Brant Losinski

Megan Collins earns MBA at Wayne State University

On May 2, 2019, Megan Collins graduated from Wayne State University with her Master’s of Business Administration degree in finance.

She is a 2009 Alpena High School graduate and also received her bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in April of 2017.

Collins is a financial analyst with Universal Logistics in Detroit.

She is the daughter of Gary and Carrie Collins of Alpena.

Stephenson honored at ISU

AMES, Iowa — Mitch Stephenson from Atlanta was honored with the American Kinesiology Association Graduate Scholar Award for a PhD student in the graduate student category from the Iowa State University Department of Kinesiology.

Stephenson, studying kinesiology, was recognized at the Department of Kinesiology’s reception on April 26 in Ames.

Ann Bell makes dean’s list

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Ann Bell, a management major from Alpena, was named to the Cedarville University Dean’s List in Cedarville, Ohio.

This recognition required Bell to maintain a 3.75 minimum grade-point average while carrying at least 12 credit hours during spring semester 2019.

Cedarville is an accredited Baptist college.

Locals on MSU dean’s list

The following area students were placed on the Michigan State University Dean’s List for the Spring 2019 semester: Natalie Goff, majoring in neuroscience, daughter of Ray and Bonnie Goff of Lachine, and Logan Pinger, majoring in environmental engineering, son of Loren and Harriet Pinger of Spruce.

Patrick Kelley graduates with honors from LSSU

Patrick Kelley of Herron recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lake Superior State University. He received the Outstanding Graduate Award for the School of Engineering. Kelley majored in mechanical engineering at LSSU.

Kelley was also included on the dean’s list for the Spring 2019 semester at LSSU. To make the dean’s list, students must achieve a minimum of a 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

Kelley is the son of Brenda and Mike Kelley of Herron, and the grandson of Carol LeFave of Alpena.

Area scholars named to dean’s list at Alma College

Alma College has released its winter 2019 dean’s list honoring those who earned a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Local students on the list are: Madison Amlotte of Alpena, Kaydee Berg of Ossineke, Alexandra Langerfeld of Hubbard Lake, Hannah Fleming of Rogers City, Alexander Stephenson of Barton City, and Brianna Fitzpatrick, Isaac Nave and Carmen Sellke, all of Onaway.

Loughery graduates from CMU

Steven and Karen Loughery of Alpena announce the graduation of their daughter Brooke Loughery from Central Michigan University.

She is the granddaughter of the late Mary and Jim Loughery and Barb Gerow and Phillip Buse.

Loughery received a Master of Arts graduate degree in speech-language pathology.

She plans to work with the geriatric population in skilled nursing facilities to help treat and increase awareness of communication/swallowing disorders.

Brant Losinski earns law degree from Wayne State

At the Detroit Opera House on May 13, 2019, Brant Arthur Losinski, son of Larry and Pat Losinski of Alpena, received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree from Wayne State University.

Losinski proudly wore the orange “Warrior Pro Bono” cord for donating more than 50 hours of supervised pro bono legal services.

Losinski earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Michigan.

He will be writing the law bar in July and he has focused his future plans of concentration on Environmental Law, Civil Liberties, Family Law, and Federal Indian Law.
