MARSP meeting Sept. 11

It is time for MARSP (Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel) to start meeting. The first meeting will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 11, at the First United Methodist Church on Ripley Boulevard in Alpena.

Reservations need to be made no later than Monday, Sept.8 by calling or texting Ruth at 989-506-8876. You may pay when you arrive on the day of the meeting or if you choose, you can bring your own lunch. New retirees are invited to attend this meeting also.

You should be receiving a newsletter soon. If you don’t get one, call Judy at 989-595-6832 to see if you forgot to pay your membership for the 2025-26 year.

At the Sept. 11 meeting, Andy Marceau of the Alpena City Fire Department will share some tips on Emergency Preparedness.

MARSP also needs a new president, so come help them make that decision.

White Pine Quilt Guild meeting Sept. 15

White Pine Quilt Guild meets at 1:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at the EMS station, 2600 E. M-72, Harrisville. The next meeting is Monday, Sept. 15. All levels of quilters are welcome.

Polish Dinner to benefit Options Pregnancy Center

A Traditional Polish Dinner will be served from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7 during the Posen Potato Festival. The dinner will be held at the Posen Community Center, 10813 Michigan Ave., Posen.

The menu includes Polish sausage, chicken, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes with gravy, veggies, roll, and dessert. The cost for the dinner is $15 per adult, $10 per child ages 6 to 12, and free for children age 5 and younger.

There will be a 50-50 drawing, a licensed raffle for a 30-06 bolt action hunting rifle with scope, a fishing kayak, and a blackstone griddle.

Raffle tickets are $20 each, available at Options Pregnancy Center during regular business hours, or from any OPC Board member, or at the dinner.

All proceeds from this event will go to Options Pregnancy Center of Alpena, 233 Cavanaugh St. Call Options at 989-354-6089.
