AHS Class of 1953 luncheon Tuesday

ALPENA — The Alpena High School Class of 1953 will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the 19th Hole, located on the corner of Golf Course Road and U.S.-23 North.

The group will meet on the second Tuesday of the month through Oct. 14.

TBA Community Chorus concert May 16

ALPENA — Thunder Bay Arts Council will be hosting the TBA Community Chorus Spring Concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 16 at the Granum Theatre inside Alpena Community College.  This event is made possible with support from the ACC Foundation’s Granum Grant Program and from donors and patrons of Thunder Bay Arts Council.

ACC Growers plant sale May 22 and 24

ALPENA — ACC Growers, who are members of the Alpena Garden Club, will have their annual sale from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 24.

The sale is held at the Alpena Community College greenhouse area off Woodward Avenue (across from Northern Lights Arena).

They will be selling tomatoes, peppers, herbs and flowers, including hanging baskets. There will also be a perennial plant sale at the same time (only Thursday) at the same location, of plants donated by garden club members.

Bring boxes to take your plants home in.

Alpena hospital accepting used books

ALPENA — MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena is now accepting hard and soft cover novels, and children’s books for their monthly used book sale.

Textbooks or magazines are not accepted.

Books can be dropped off in the lobby behind the registration desk.
