Alpena County Library hosting programs: house history, anime club, sewing and more

ALPENA — A variety of free programs are being offered at Alpena County Library this month, including house history, adult anime club, sewing club, and Tinker Tuesdays.

House History

Research Skills: House History will be at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, via Zoom.

Did you ever wanted to learn how to find out the history of your house? Join Special Collections Librarian Don La Barre as he provides an introductory view into the first steps you can take on the research adventure of your home.

Registration is not required. The presentation can be viewed at https://bit.ly/3Qyuzdf.

If you can’t watch at that time, a recording of the presentation will be shared on the Library’s YouTube channel.

For questions and more information, contact La Barre at 989-356-6188, extension 17, or email dlabarre@alpenalibrary.org.

Sewing Club

Sewing Club is from 4 to 6 p.m. each Wednesday, led by Barb Brege in the Makerspace.

No sewing experience? No problem! This club is open to all skill levels, from newbies to expert makers ages 9 and up. Bring your sewing machine, supplies (scissors, straight pins, etc.), and a project to work on, and Brege will supply guidance. For those without a sewing machine, three are available to use on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration is required to attend this recurring program. Children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult to take part. To register, call Brege at 989-255-8969.

Adult Anime Club

Those ages 18 and up are invited to Anime Club from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16.

Anime Club is a Japanese animation appreciation group for adults. Anime Club was created to give adults a place to gather, watch, and talk about Japanese animation. No registration is necessary; drop-ins are welcome.

Each meeting will include a screening of an anime on the large screen in the Stillion Conference Room. Viewing selections will be decided with attendee input.
