Fourth of July contest deadline Wednesday

ALPENA – The Exchange Club of Alpena is hosting the 3rd Annual Independence Day Decorating Contest, an opportunity for Alpena area businesses and residents to showcase their patriotic spirit.

“We encourage residents and area businesses to pull out all the stops and proudly display their red, white, and blue decorations in their front window, yards, and porches,” said Raymond Reynolds, president, Exchange Club of Alpena.

One of the club’s service programs is Americanism which promotes pride in our country, appreciation for the freedoms granted to American citizens, and gratitude to the men and women who serve/have served in the Armed Forces.

The contest is open to all Alpena businesses and residents. To register, email your name, address, and a photo of your completed decorated home or business to alpenaexchangeclub@gmail.com. The only rule is to have fun but leave the politics out. The entry deadline is June 29.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three businesses and top three residents. Last year’s winners are not eligible for prizes, but they are encouraged to decorate. The community will pick a People’s Choice winner via the Exchange Club of Alpena’s Facebook page (Exchange Club of Alpena). The photo with the most likes by noon on July 4 will be named the People’s Choice winner.
