This is an ongoing group of card players who welcome any players at any time. We are a teaching class but welcome experienced players also.

CAPTURING NEW ORLEANS

Thursday, 7 p.m.

M. Briggs Center (in person and Zoom)

“The Union Navy Captures New Orleans.” This is the story of the Union Navy’s difficult and dangerous foray up the Mississippi River in 1862 to stop the export of cotton from New Orleans, the South’s most important commercial center.

Richard Wolff is a retired Rockford, Illinois lawyer who has spent summer vacations on Lake Avalon for more than 70 years. A hobby of his is research on the Union and Confederate Navy in the Civil War.
