The Hillman VFW Post 2356 held its regular meeting at 6 p.m. on June 3, with 11 members present.

The post has decided to open its Friday fish fry on July 9.

Saturday, Aug. 14 will be the next V-J Day celebration. Watch for collection of funds for this year’s fireworks display.

The lack of a Montmorency County V.A. service officer effectively filling this position for years now has resulted in some real horror stories. Eligible veterans are being neglected until they give up. Finding a service officer who is capable, willing, and has time to do the job effectively will be hard. Also, the fact that some veterans do not cooperate does not help. The county now has a Veterans Affairs rep to fill this position. Please call him at 989-785-043.
