Reel Fun fishing tournament canceled because of pandemic

This February was scheduled to be the 13th Annual Reel Fun Ice Fishing tournament with Festivus scheduled for the Friday prior to the event. After careful thought and consideration for the current pandemic associated with COVID-19, the committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the event for 2021.

“With so many uncertainties and in an abundance of caution for the health and safety of the participants, spectators and volunteers, it was felt that this would be the best plan,” a press release from the committee explained.

Tickets already purchased for either the Reel Fun Ice Fishing tournament and/or Festivus will be refunded. Those who purchased tickets at Buck’s or Clem’s in Alpena or at Frank’s in Linwood can obtain refunds at those locations. All those who purchased tickets purchased online or by phone to Top O’ Michigan Insurance, will be issued refunds the first week in February by check. The logistics are being coordinated at this time.

“The current conditions have affected so many individuals, businesses and events like ours,” the press release stated. “Although 2021 has been cancelled, the committee and volunteers look forward to our best Reel Fun Ice Fishing and Festivus in 2022. We would like to thank all of the supporters and sponsors and we will see all of you next year.”
