Brush Creek Mill announces mini-grants for child-centered projects

Brush Creek Mill is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2020 Mini-Grant Awards for Child-Centered Projects in Montmorency County. The mini-grants are funded from the annual “Teeing Up for Kids” Golf Scramble. Brush Creek Mill’s 10th annual golf scramble will be held at Thunder Bay Resort on Sunday, July 12. Over the past nine years, the group has given close to $40,000 to worthy youth activities throughout Hillman, Atlanta and Lewiston.

This year’s grant award winners are:

¯ Brush Creek Writers: North East Michigan Student Writing Contest

¯ Girl Scout Troop 4810: Badge earning trip to Mackinac

¯ Hillman Elementary School: Beginning Band Percussion instruments

¯ Hillman Elementary School: Caroling

¯ Hillman Elementary School: Sensory Pathways

¯ Hillman Elementary School: Brain Bins

¯ Hillman High School: Baseball Team

¯ Hillman Lions Club: Weekend Backpack Program — weekend meals for elementary, middle and high school students in need.

¯ Hillman United Methodist Church: Back to School Bash — school supplies, haircuts, hygiene and fun.

¯ Hillman Parent/Teacher Support Group: Back to School Carnival: Needed school supplies and excitement about beginning the school year

¯ Hillman Township: Tiger Paw Park, Summer Recreation

¯ Lewiston DDA: Fall Harvest Experience

¯ St. John Lutheran Children’s Center: Pocket Reading Pillows

¯ Montmorency County Public Libraries: Atlanta, Hillman, Lewiston-Summer Reading Program.

Brush Creek Mill encourages all in Montmorency county to apply for grants of up to $500. Applications must be for child-centered projects. Grant applications are available each year in October, and completed applications are due each year by January 31. Contact Brush Creek Mill at P.O. Box 344, Hillman, 49746, or call 989-742-2527.
