Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake is hosting a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This day of feasting and celebration precedes Ash Wednesday, which begins the penitential season of Lent.

The pancake dinner is by donation. Pancakes, sausage, paczki and other desserts will be served, and there will be a pancake decorating contest. This event is sponsored by Thrivent Financial. CRTC Community Council Tues.

The CRTC Community Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Alpena Community College, Center Building Room 106 (across the hall from the Granum Theater).

The council is an effort to increase information sharing and support between the community and the Combat Readiness Training Center, to continue, and improve, the relationship between the civilian community and the military service community. Our first meeting of 2020 will include a general CRTC update and then an in-depth update on Winter Strike. This event is free, but registration is required to info@alpenachamber.com or 989-354-4181.

Thunder Bay Island meeting

Thunder Bay Island Lighthouse Preservation Society meets 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Yacht Club, open to the public.

ALL to meet ALICE Tuesday

ALICE is the person who works hard to make a living, but still can’t make ends meet. Joe Gentry will lead a discussion from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at ACC’s M. Briggs Center for the Association of Lifelong Learners. He will present the ALICE report, which details that 44% of the 12,789 households in Alpena County are ALICE households.
