VFW Fish Fry on Fridays

VFW 2496 Fish Fry Friday is back through Lent at 2900 Connon St. in Alpena, from 4 to 7 p.m., for $9.50 per plate. The menu includes cod, coleslaw, and choice of baked potato or French fries. Takeouts will be available.

Rogers City DDA Main Street program tonight

From 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, join friends and neighbors at the Rogers City Theater for the Rogers City Main Street Community Grassroots Initiative. Be the future of Rogers City by learning about the Michigan Main Street Program, where “Community Saves Community.” This event is sponsored by the Rogers City Downtown Development Authority.

Art in the Loft classes Sat.

Kitchen Explorers, for preteens and teens, is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Art in the Loft, for ages 10 and up, for $25 per student. This culinary experience will be led by Chef Reid Krebs. Students will be separated into groups and given a mystery basket full of ingredients and a step-by-step recipe to follow. Apply for a scholarship at artintheloft.org.

Let’s Make Marmalade! A tasting, tutorial and takeaway experience with local Artisan Betsy Lehndorff is from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Art in the Loft, for ages 16 and up, for $45 per student. Bring your own zester. Lehndorff will teach students her blue-ribbon winning recipe.

American Girl Day Sat.

Saturday is American Girl Day at Alpena County Library. Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to bring their dolls for a day of free treats, crafts, entertainment and prizes. Call 989-356-6188, ext. 14 to register.

Moose Lodge pork dinner

The Alpena Moose Lodge pork loin dinner, open to the public, is 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, for $10 per person. Dinner includes pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies, tossed salad and dinner rolls.
