Lions hear about APS bond issue

The Feb. 4 Alpena Lions Club program speaker was Stacey Parr, Alpena Public Schools Board member.

Parr discussed the March 10 school bond election for Alpena Public Schools. After the bond was voted down last spring, the board gathered information from the community. After gathering the information, a decision was made to ask for a renewal of the current bond, which means there will be a zero increase in current tax rates. If passed, the bond will only be used to upgrade facilities aimed at keeping the students safe, warm and dry. Main items included are heating, roof replacements, asbestos removal, and security.

For educational information about the bond and how it will affect students and taxpayers, visit alpenaschools.com and click on the Bond Info page.
