Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) employees are being awarded for building an entrepreneurial spirit and seeking out change within the workplace.

In 2015, AAACU implemented a new program that gives employees a voice within the credit union, creating an open environment for change and innovation with continuous improvements.

Employees receive a $50 incentive for each of their Bright Ideas that are implemented and are eligible to win a yearly prize, which is awarded to the employee whose idea was most in tune to AAACU member owners. Since the inception of the program, 344 ideas for change have been submitted, with 56 being implemented.

The 2019 Bright Idea Award winner was Paula Miller, Atlanta assistant branch manager. Her suggestion was to develop a new process when completing a new line of credit application. This document was more user-friendly, creating less paperwork, requiring fewer signatures, and much more convenience for credit union members.

AAACU Lincoln Branch team members recently stopped by the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office to recognize their efforts and hard work. Team members Vicky Hansen and Stacey Hall dropped off goodies to the crew at the sheriff department in appreciation for all they do to keep our communities safe.
