ALL programs this week

Association of Lifelong Learners will learn about Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) from Certified Lifestyle Consultant Chris Coultes, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today at Alpena Community College’s M. Briggs Center. PEMF is used for wound and bone healing, anxiety and depression.

Then on Thursday, ALL will learn about Pigeon River Country State Forest and Discovery Center from 1 to 2 p.m. at M. Briggs Center. The state forest is the largest contiguous block of state-owned land in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Conservationists Rudi Edel and Sandy Franz will talk about wildlife on the property and the newly created Discovery Center. Call 989-358-7207.

Book sale at hospital Friday

A used book sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena lobby, hosted by hospital volunteers.

Foodie Friday with Chef Reid

This Friday is Foodie Friday at Art in the Loft, featuring Chef Reid Krebs, offering an interactive lunch experience from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Krebs will do a lunch demonstration every half-hour, in which participants will follow along and make their own lunch. Friday’s featured item is the Deconstructed Caesar Salad. The cost is $15 per person. Registration is required by calling 989-356-4877, or online at www.artintheloft.org.

Grace Episcopal dinner Friday

Grace Episcopal Church in Lachine will host a soup and sandwich supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at 13488 Long Rapids Road in Lachine. Cost is by donation. The menu includes homemade soups, make-your-own sandwiches, homemade pies and desserts.

All Saints breakfast at K of C

This Sunday, join All Saints Catholic School and the Knights of Columbus for their annual pancake breakfast in celebration of Catholic Schools Week, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the K of C Hall, 1880 Hamilton Road, Alpena. The cost is $9 per adult, $4 per child. The public is encouraged to attend this popular breakfast buffet, serving potato pancakes, buttermilk pancakes, sausage, ham, French toast, fried potatoes, bread, rolls and beverages.

St. Matthew Lutheran Church’s 32nd Annual Potato Pancake Dinner is from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, with potato pancakes, sausage, homemade desserts, and beverages. The cost is $8 per adult, $5 per child ages 5 to 12, and free for under 5, at 7109 Wolf Creek Road, Herron. Call 989-727-2769.

Bridge results announced

Two teams tied for first place this week in Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club: Gayle Nowak and Deanna Brege tied with Eve Phillips and Fred Woolman. Second place winners were Judie Vivian and Marilyn Sharp, and the third place team was Mark Wolshon and Ron Young. The group meets at 12:45 p.m. on Mondays at First United Methodist Church on the corner of 1st Avenue and Ripley Boulevard. All bridge players are welcome. For information, call 989-354-2306.
