Empty Bowls painting at Cobbygoose Thurs.

Paint a bowl for $10 starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Cobbygoose inside the Alpena Mall. The bowls are for the Empty Bowls fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 16. Those who attend the February event can purchase one of the colorful, uniquely decorated bowls, eat soup from it, and take it home to remind them to have compassion on those who are hungry all year long.

If you cannot attend the bowl-painting session, call Cobbygoose to arrange a different time to paint bowls, at 989-354-4222.

Lab retirees luncheon

MidMichigan (ARMC) laboratory retirees meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Mango’s Tequila Bar for their monthly luncheon.

Men’s event at NLCF

All men in the community are invited to hear an encouraging message and enjoy fellowship from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at New Life Christian Fellowship, 317 S. Ripley Blvd., Alpena.

The guest speaker is Cliff Prince. This free event, sponsored by The ROCK (Representatives of Christ’s Kingdom) Men’s Ministry, will begin with a meal. For more information, call NLCF at 989-354-0095.

Gospel concert on Sat.

A free country gospel concert with “The Kirchoff Brothers” is at 7 p.m. Saturday at Spratt United Methodist Church, 7740 M-65 South, Lachine.

Bridge winners told

Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club winners this week were Mark Wolshom and Marge French in first place, Linda Clegg and Marcy Sherman in second, and Marilyn Sharp and Judie Vivian in third.
