Lions Club sweepstakes underway

The Alpena Lions Club is selling tickets for its annual Sight and Hearing Sweepstakes, one of the club’s major fundraisers. Tickets can be obtained through any Lions Club member, or by emailing Lew Kunze at lkunze1@frontier.com or calling 989-356-1076.

Poker tournament for Plaza Pool

A Texas Hold ‘Em Poker tournament fundraiser for the Plaza Pool will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, at the APlex, 701 Woodward Ave. in Alpena. The tournament is hosted by the Friends of Plaza Pool. A mini tournament starts at 1 p.m. Registration for the main tournament is prior to 3:30 p.m., and the tournament starts at 4 p.m. Cost is $40 per player. Limit is 100 players, and there is no early registration.

Alpena Bridge Club weekly results announced

Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club winners this week were Fred Woolman and Eve Philips in first place, Marcy Sherman and Beverley Rousseau in second place, Audrey Stevens and Linda Clegg in third place.
