PI Christmas church tours on tap

Courtesy Photo Here is a photo of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Metz, built in 1909 on the foundation of an earlier church that was totally destroyed in the devastating Metz fire of October 1908. The new church is virtually identical to the original, and is included in the tour on Dec. 28.

For the second year in a row the Presque Isle County Historical Museum will be hosting a bus tour to area churches to learn about the churches and enjoy their Christmas decorations.

Six churches are included in this year’s tour: Onaway United Methodist, Faith Lutheran in Hawks, St. Peter Lutheran in Metz, St. Dominic Catholic in Metz, St. Michael Lutheran in Belknap, and St. Casimir Catholic in Posen.

Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the tour by members of the St. Casimir Rosary Solidarity.

The tour will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, leaving from the parking lot of the museum’s Hoffman Annex at 175 W. Michigan Ave. in Rogers City.

Tickets for the tour are $10 and can be purchased at the annex from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

For further information about the church tour, call 989-734-0123.
