Alzheimer’s Vigil Tues.
An Alzheimer’s Vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Alpena Senior Citizens Center, to honor family, friends and all individuals living with the disease. November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, designated by President Ronald Reagan in 1983. At that time, fewer than 2 million Americans were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Today that number has jumped to nearly 5.4 million. The disease has no cure.

From 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Association of Lifelong Learners will hear about painting gourds from Linda Sansom at Alpena Community College’s M. Briggs Center.
PI Women’s Club events
The Presque Isle Women’s Club will hear the Michigan State Police talk about human trafficking at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grand Lake Library. Calendars were scheduled to arrive the first week of November. The Women’s Club and Grand Lake Community Chapel Christmas Party will be Dec. 10 at Woody’s Restaurant on 638.
NEMCSA food on Tues.
NEMCSA (Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency) TEFAP quarterly food distribution is 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Alpena VFW Post 2496 at 2900 Connon St. These food packages are free to any age resident of Alpena County that meets the income guidelines posted at time of distribution. Bring a tote, box or bags for this large package of food.
Alcona Book Club meets
The Alcona Book Club meets noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrisville branch of Alcona County Library to discuss “Varina” by Charles Frazier.
Lab retirees to meet
MidMichigan (ARMC) laboratory retirees’ monthly luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Hunan Chinese Restaurant.
