Professional artist Erwin P. Lewandowski of Alpena will be featured in the December issue of Artists Magazine. His Step by Step article will highlight all the stages of development involved in creating Cascading Water XVI, a colored pencil drawing.

“I was delighted to receive notice this past summer from Anne Hevener, chief editor for Artists Magazine, that they were very interested in publishing one of my recent articles written for a United Kingdom magazine,” said Lewandowski. “Writing about a drawing after the work has been completed can be a challenging exercise since one has to recall all the stages and pencils used in the study. In this case the magazine requested additional details about the process involved, more information about specific colors used throughout the working sessions, and high resolution imagery with specific dimensions required for printing. Working with the magazine staff was a good experience for me and I look forward to seeing the final article.”

This past August Lewandowski received the 1st Place Landscape Award at the Great Northern Art Explosion in Grayling. The event was sponsored by Artisan Village and juried by Bruce Winslow, former art director at Alden B. Dow Museum in Midland. In September the artist received a 2nd Place Award at the Michigan Colored Pencil 2019 Competition and Exhibition in Novi. The annual event is sponsored by the Colored Pencil Society of America Detroit Chapter #104.

The artist was recently notified that he is now a certified member of the AERA — Association Embracing Realist Art. The organization, based in the United Kingdom and Germany, was created as a forum venue to promote realism art throughout the globe.

The artist and his wife, Mary, reside along the shoreline of Lake Huron. To learn more about the artist go to his FASO website at www.erwinplewandowski.com.
