Leer Heritage Day is Saturday

Leer Lutheran Church will host Leer Heritage Day Saturday.

The museum will be open from 1 to 6 p.m., and the program, It Started on KVISLA: Building the Community of Leer, will begin at 2 p.m. A multi-item auction will be from 2 to 5 p.m., and a picnic lunch will be at 4 p.m. at the pavilion, for a free will offering.

Mushroom class at Ocqueoc

Presque Isle District Library and Michigan Mushrooms, LLC, will host a mushroom hunting and ID class at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ocqueoc Falls.

This is a free program for all ages. For more information, call the library at 989-734-2477.

Spaghetti dinner at the Legion

Under His Wings Christian Fellowship is having an All You Can Eat spaghetti dinner and bake sale from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16.

The dinner will be held at the American Legion Post 65, 1326 M-32 West in Alpena. Meatless sauce will be available.

The suggested donation is $8 per person or $20 per family. All proceeds will go to the church’s building fund.

Alcona library events planned

Several events are coming up at the Alcona County Library. Call 989-724-6797 for more information.

Today: Frog Day storytime and craft for children is from 10:15 to 11 a.m. at the Harrisville branch.

Monday, Aug. 12: Get Crafty for Adults from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Harrisville branch. The August project is a macrame plant hanger with Jan. Fee is $5 for supplies.

Monday, Aug. 12: Ukulele Jam Sessions for all ages and all levels from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Harrisville branch.

Tuesday, Aug. 13: Learn how to make noodles from scratch at a Pasta Party at the Lincoln branch from 2 to 4 p.m., recommended for ages 8 to 18.

Wednesday, Aug. 14: End of Summer Reading Party for children and teens at 2 p.m. at the Harrisville branch. Turn in all reading logs and tickets before 2 p.m. for a chance to win prizes.

Thursday, Aug. 15: Community Walking Club meets at 9 a.m. at the Harrisville branch.

Thursday, Aug. 15: Family Movie Matinee at the Harrisville branch at 2 p.m., with a newly released DVD and theater-style popcorn.

Friday, Aug. 16: Storytime and craft for children from 10:15 to 11 a.m. at the Harrisville branch.
