Pegg Thomas of Ossineke has recently been awarded the Romance Writers of America–Faith, Hope, and Love Chapter–Reader’s Choice Award for her novella, “In Sheep’s Clothing,” part of the historical romance collection, “A Bouquet of Brides,” from Barbour Publishing.

“In Sheep’s Clothing” is set in Colonial Connecticut in the town of Milford. Thomas’s family tree goes back to this town and this era. Although all the characters are fictional, she feels an emotional connection with the setting. The heroine of the story, Yarrow Fenn, is a spinner and a weaver. Thomas is a long-time spinner and knitter who has dabbled in weaving as well. She’s also raised sheep for more than 25 years. This background helped her bring the character of Yarrow Fenn to life.

Thomas is also a finalist this year with the American Christian Fiction Writers Association. She is a double-finalist with “Her Redcoat” and “In Sheep’s Clothing” for the Carol Awards novella category. She is also a finalist for ACFW’s Editor of the Year.

When she’s not tending her sheep or garden and not busy at her spinning wheel, Thomas divides her time between her own writing and working as the publisher of Smitten Historical Romance, an imprint of Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas.

Her books are locally available at Olivet Book & Gift in downtown Alpena.
