Lewandowski artwork selected for International Exhibition

Drawings by Erwin P. Lewandowski Local artist Erwin P. Lewandowski recently had two drawings selected for inclusion for different events. “Falling Water XVII” was selected for the 14th Annual International Guild of Realism Juried Exhibition.

Professional artist Erwin P. Lewandowski of Alpena was notified that his waterscape drawing, “Falling Water XVII,” was selected for the 14th Annual International Guild of Realism Juried Exhibition. The host gallery for this prestigious venue will be the Principle Gallery in Alexandria, Va. The exhibit runs from Sept. 17-Oct. 15.

“This is one of the more challenging events for an artist because every entry undergoes a dual juried process before the final selections are announced,” Lewandowski said in a press release. “I always feel a sense of relief and pride knowing that one of my colored pencil drawings will be featured alongside some of the best realism artists from around the world. My entry of Falling Water XVII is a rendering of a river slowly cresting over a rocky landscape. The contrast in colors between the subsurface area in the setting and the cascading water traversing through the rocks makes for a unique and interesting composition.”

Lewandowski currently is highlighted in the July issue of Talkingpoint Magazine, a publication of the United Kingdom Coloured Pencil Society. The article is a step-by-step approach to one of his latest drawings and includes 6 stages of illustration.

“Each year I take time to write several articles about my work that might be of interest to art trade publications and their audience,” he said. “The process can be a bit challenging since one needs to go back in time and recall the various steps that went into the final composition. I consider this type of article an intimate sharing experience with readers and in some cases with artists looking for new ways to approach their art forms.”

He also is heading to Los Angeles later in the month to host two “Ways of Water” workshops at the 27th Annual International Exhibition and Convention of the Colored Pencil Society of America. This past month he was notified that his entry, “Current Streams II,” was selected for this special event.

“This should be quite an experience for me since I will have a role in the exhibition and competition, the workshops, and in a their silent auction presentation,” Lewandowski said. “I must admit that my primary objective at the moment is to simply deliver a level of personal performance that is acceptable and professional at each of the showcase events.”

Lewandowski and his wife, Mary, reside along the shoreline of Thunder Bay in Alpena. To learn more about the artist and his ongoing activities go to www.erwinplewandowski.com.
