FOURTH OF JULY EVENTS

Hubbard Lake

parade Thursday

Hubbard Lake South Shore Fire Department open house and Fire Chief Carl Smith Independence Parade is Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. A children’s fire safety presentation will be immediately following the parade. Grand Marshal is Doug Traskos. Fireworks in area

Fireworks are planned at the following times and locations, at dusk:

ı Alpena, July 4th, Starlite Beach

ı Atlanta, July 4th, Atlanta High School

ı Barton City, July 4th, the finale to the “Biggest Little 4th in the North” parade at 11 a.m., kids’ games, music, food vendors and fun all day.

ı Onaway, July 4th, Horrocks Field near the airport

ı Harrisville, July 6th, 10:15 p.m. at Harrisville Harbor

ı Onaway Speedway, July 6th

ı Presque Isle, July 6th, preceded by a parade at 10:30 a.m., a picnic at Garrity Hall, games and family activities all day prior to the fireworks.

Friday is Family Fun Day in R.C.

Family Fun Day starts at 1 p.m. Friday with a movie, “Wonderpark” at the Rogers City Theater. Then from 3 to 6 p.m. is Tons of Fun! Activities include musician/magician Ray Champion, bounce houses, games, bubbles, cornhole, cupcake walk, photo board and refreshments.

Then at 7 p.m. is a concert by Carrie Caruso with Ivan Wirgau at the Rogers City Bandshell.

City band, Rock Show at Bayview

Alpena City Band will perform a live concert at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bandshell at Bayview Park in Alpena. Note the earlier time, because of the Rock Show concert at 7 p.m.

The Rock Show Tribute, featuring Posen native Tommy K, will be at the Alpena Band Shell from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, performing a classic rock tribute to the great rock bands of the 70s and 80s. Enjoy the music of Journey, Styx, Foreigner, Kiss, REO Speedwagon and more. Band members also include Michael Hawkes, Levi Goodwin, and Chris Bartnikowski. The free concert is part of True North Radio Network’s Summer Concerts in the Park.

Craft show in Harrisville

A Fourth of July arts and crafts show is in Harrisville this weekend.

Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, The Craftmakers’ Cabin at 106 S. State Rd., U.S.-23 in Harrisville, hosts its annual Fourth of July Arts, Crafts and Vendor Fair on the corner of U.S.-23 and M-72.

Onaway VFW BBQ on the 4th

On Thursday, VFW Post 5857 in Onaway is having its famous BBQ chicken dinner, with a half chicken, cole slaw, macaroni salad, and roll, for $10 a plate, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., dine-in or take-out.
