Dental hygienist luncheon today

The Superior Sunrise Dental Hygienists’ Association is sponsoring a 1 CE lunch and learn program from noon to 1 p.m. today at LeFave Pharmacy and Compounding, 1202 W. Chisholm St. in Alpena. “CBD and the Use of Medicinal Cannabinoids” will be presented by Dr. Kristine Spicer, free to Superior Sunrise members. The fee for all others is $20. Events today at Brush Creek

Volunteer training at Brush Creek Mill in Hillman is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, with lunch provided. New, previous and current volunteers are encouraged to attend to learn new information and share their ideas.

Music at the Mill is at 7 p.m. tonight. It is open mic, with 6:30 p.m. musician sign-up. Music at the Mill is held on the third Friday of each month. For more information about these events, call 989-742-2527.

Canning Out Cancer bottle drive in Ossineke Saturday

Connie’s Angels can and bottle drive, Canning Out Cancer, is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Bring cans and bottles to the old Ossineke Laundromat (next to Alcona Health Center).

All donations will benefit Relay to Life.

R.O.C. Walk Saturday

Remembering Our Children will hold a walk for families who have lost a child of any age at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Alpena County Fairgrounds, to celebrate the life and memory of children who have died. Family and friends are invited to join in the walk, which will last about an hour. The walk will be to the Tree of Remembrance and then back to the fairgrounds, where a short gathering and light refreshments will be provided. Feel free to wear a T-shirt with a picture of your child on it. The walk will take place rain or shine, so bring an umbrella. Classes at Art in the Loft

The following classes are Saturday at Art in the Loft: Watercolor Waterfalls with Betty Bea Washburn from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $110 per student, and from noon to 2 p.m. is Canvas and Cuisine, a children’s class for ages 5 and up, for $25 per student. On Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m., join local artist Nichola Cornelius to learn the basics of henna design, Moroccan bead jewelry and meditative drumming, $45, for ages 15 and up. Swiss steak dinner in Lincoln

A swiss steak dinner will be from 4:30 to 6:30 tonight at Alcona Masonic Lodge, 316 E. Traverse Bay, Lincoln. The public is welcome. The cost is $12 per adult and $6 per child.

Garden Club to meet July 1

The June meeting of the Alpena Garden Club was held at the Senior Citizens Center. After a luncheon, Jacinta Boyk opened the business meeting. June birthdays were recognized.

B.J. Sander, program manager of the center, spoke on the latest improvements and asked anyone available in the area to help with the raised gardens at the center. Serving on commitee for June were Pam Hand, Darlene Cadarette, Rose Brown and Sue Eller. The club will meet July 1 for socializing at 11 a.m., followed by an 11:30 a.m. meeting at the 19th Hole.

Bridge winners announced

Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club winners this week were Beverley Roussea and Marcy Sherman in first, Joe Ulman and Marge French in second, and a tie for third between the teams of Mark Wolshon and Dale Middleditch, and Gayle Nowak and Deanna Brege.
