LWV annual dinner Tues.

The annual dinner/meeting of the League of Women Voters of Alpena County will be held Tuesday at Alpena Community College in the Newport Center Building, Room 104, starting at 5:30 p.m.

In the after-dinner program, League member Sue Maxwell will describe the historical development of Negwegon State Park and the pivotal role played by the League of Women Voters.

Eric Ostrander, DNR Park Supervisor, will speak about Negwegon at present.

The annual business meeting will follow, including election of officers and approval of the budget.

K of C Aux. hears updates

President Dixie Hilla presided over the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary meeting on May 8.

Updates were provided by Treasurer Diana Donajkowski regarding the Memorial Garden bricks.

Sally Wekwert reported on recent fundraising events including the fish dinners during Lent and Sunday breakfasts.

The date for the Arts and Crafts show is scheduled for November 15.

Donations were taken for St. Vincent’s.

After the regular meeting, members joined Council 529 for the crowning of Mary. Mike McKay led in singing as Roy and Sally Wekwert performed the crowning. The auxiliary provided cake and ice cream afterward.

Spicer to speak today

Kristine Spicer, Pharm.D., from LeFave Pharmacy, will speak at the Alpena Area Parkinson’s Support Group at 1 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Alpena.

Her presentation will be on CBD oils.
