Pancake breakfast at PI Hall Sat.

East Grand Lake Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Presque Isle Township Hall.

American Legion dinner Saturday

Alpena American Legion Post 65 will host its monthly dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Hall, 1316 M-32 West.

Proceeds will go toward Alpena Disabled Veterans’ fundraiser for the van fund. The van is used to transport local disabled veterans.

The dinner will include beef and pork, potatoes and veggies, coleslaw and a dessert bar. The cost is $8 per adult, and $4 per child ages 12 and younger.

Free genealogy class in Hillman

Hillman Area Historical and Genealogy Society is hosting a free session, “Finding Your Ancestors: How to Begin,” from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Brush Creek Mill, 121 South State Street in Hillman.

Attendees should bring any complete names, places, dates of birth/marriage/death they may have. Computers will not be used at the first session.

Taro’s Museum Adventure Friday

Taro invites children to bring their favorite stuffed animal friend to a “sleepover” at the Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday.

Enjoy a planetarium show and get your picture taken on Mars. Your stuffed animals will stay overnight at the museum and you can pick them up at the library the next day and hear about all the fun they had.

This free event, for ages 5 to 10, is provided in partnership with Alpena County Library. Registration is required before May 9 by calling the library at 989-356-6188.
