Alpena’s Judy Dennis was among 11 members recently elected to the Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore Board of Directors.

At the April 27 annual meeting, Dennis was elected secretary of the group. The officers’ terms began upon being voted into office and will end in 2020 or 2021.

The meeting was held at Camp Anna Behrens in Greenville.

Dennis retired as a teacher and coach from Alpena Public Schools. She has held Girl Scout leadership roles in the Alpena area for more than 10 years and has been instrumental in the council’s success. She also volunteers with the local Optimist Club and Methodist Church.

Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore serves more than 6,500 girls throughout northern and western Michigan, carrying on the Girl Scouting legacy to girls in 30 counties.
