TBT Kids Cabaret at Downtown Scoops

Thunder Bay Theatre will host Kids Cabaret from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Downtown Scoops.

Bring the whole family down for music and sweet treats.

TBT’s core company will be entertaining with a variety of favorite tunes.

at Grand Lake library

Presque Isle District Library’s Grand Lake Branch and Thunder Bay Audubon Society present “Local Birds — Who Are They?”

The program is at the Grand Lake Library Banner Room at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thunder Bay Audubon Society presenters will lead the program. It will feature identification and discussion of birds that might be seen in this area.

Free severe weather program Thursday

The Alcona County Emergency Management Office and Amateur Radio Group are sponsoring a free Skywarn Training Severe Weather Program presented by the National Weather Service of Gaylord at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The program will be held at the Alcona County EMS/EOC building located at 2600 East M-72, six miles west of U.S.-23 on the south side of the road.

Attendees will have a chance to win a free All Hazards Alert Weather Radio. Free refreshments will be provided and this event is open to the public – no registration required.

Sign up by April 21 for Mens’ Advance

All men and young men 10 and older, accompanied by an adult, are invited to attend Men’s Advance 2019 at Bethel Youth Camp in Hawks April 26-28.

The weekend begins with dinner at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26, and concludes at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 28.

Weekend activities include encouraging messages, live worship, fellowship, games, recreation hall, heated pool, horse shoes, miniature golf and more.

Bethel Youth Camp is at 8644 S. Ward Branch Road in Hawks.

The deadline to register is April 21.

Cost is $70 per person, which includes meals and lodging.

Register and pay in person with cash or check at New Life Christian Fellowship office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The church is located at 317 S. Ripley Blvd., Alpena.

MSU Night, Earth is Blue Thurs. at NOAA

NOAA’s Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center will host MSU Night at the Museum and a Sanctuary Cinema event Thursday, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

This event begins at 7 p.m., featuring a collection of “Earth is Blue” short videos that bring ocean and Great Lakes treasures to the big screen.

When you look at our planet from space, one thing is clear: Eart is Blue. Ours is an ocean planet, and the National Marine Sanctuary System protects this vital resource.

The films are about science and exploration across the 14 sites within the National Marine Sanctuary System.

Garden show at

Alpena Mall Saturday

The 16th annual “Let’s Get Growing” Garden Show will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Alpena Mall. This free public event features creative exhibits, farmer’s market vendors, large and small garden equipment, and landscaping and gardening tips galore.

Euchre tournament Sat. for Plaza Pool

A Euchre tournament fundraiser will be held Saturday, hosted by Friends of Plaza Pool.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and play starts at 6 p.m. at the APlex, 701 Woodward Ave. in Alpena.

Cost is $20 per person. Cash prizes 60% payout.

There will be food, a cash bar, 50/50 drawing, and $1 pool for the person with the high game.

Bake sale for R.O.C.

A bake sale will start at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Alpena Mall, to benefit Remembering Our Children. This group supports families who have lost a child. Pies, cakes, cookies and snacks will be offered.

Community Fish painting at Art in Loft

Join other members of the community from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Art in the Loft for a Community Fish Painting Workshop.

Attendees will be able to put their artistic touches on one of the large fish to be hung on the downtown mural.
