ASO concert ‘Music from Around the World’ May 19

The Alpena Symphony Orchestra will perform its spring concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at the Alpena High School auditorium.

This concert, titled “Music from Around the World,” will feature a variety of music showcasing different countries.

Jim Van Eizenga, director of orchestras for Novi Public Schools, will conduct the ASO in this performance.

This concert will also feature bass trombone soloist Aaron Hotelling in “Concertino in F” for bass trombone and orchestra by Ernst Sachse. Hotelling lives and teaches in Gaylord, and earned a master’s degree in music education, with a focus on bass trombone, from Central Michigan University.

Tickets are $10 for adults, with students and children admitted free of charge. Tickets will be on sale at the time of the performance in the high school lobby and at Neiman’s Family Market prior to the concert.

A reception will follow the concert in the high school lobby and a pre-concert talk will be given by conductor VanEizenga prior to the performance.

AHS is located at 3303 S. Third St. in Alpena.
