ARMC to meet Jan. 17

MidMichigan (ARMC) laboratory retirees will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, at Applebee’s Bar and Grill for their monthly luncheon.

TBAC student open house Sunday

Thunder Bay Arts Council, Inc. and Gallery will host an open house reception for Sarah Bedford’s art students from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the gallery at 127 W. Chisholm St. in Alpena.

Several pieces of art from her Thunder Bay Jr. High School students are currently on display at the TBAC gallery.

Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome.

Golden Agers held party; meeting Friday

The Golden Agers enjoyed their Christmas party on Dec. 14, held at the 19th Hole Restaurant.

The group’s next meeting will be at noon on Friday at the Salvation Army church. A game is planned, and everyone is invited to attend the festivities.

Creative writer

submissions wanted

MI Sunrise Journal, a literary magazine, is calling for spring submissions for its Avian Edition.

The journal is seeking short stories, creative non-fiction poetry and book reviews.

The spring deadline is April 5.

Soup and pie supper

at Masonic Center

Alpena Hopper Lodge 199 will host a soup and pie supper from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, at Alpena Masonic Center.

The center is located at 1020 U.S.-23 North in Alpena.

Folk Society DJ Dance Party Jan. 19

On Saturday, Jan. 19, the Thunder Bay Folk Society will host its annual membership meeting and DJ Dance Party at the Eagles Club, 1960 M-32 W, Alpena.

A brief annual meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. for an update on the society and election of new board members.

The dance starts at 7 p.m. The Bloc Brothers DJ’s will provide music until 11 p.m.

Cost is $5 at the door, with snacks provided and a cash bar available for those over 21.

Current paid members get in free. There will be merchandise available for sale, as well as membership sign-ups.

Alcona radio group to meet Jan. 17

The Alcona County Amateur Radio Group meeting, open to the public, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17.

The meeting will be at the EMS/EOC building, located at 2600 East M-72.

K of C 529 breakfast for All Saints Jan. 20

The Knights of Columbus Alpena Council 529 is sponsoring its 15th Annual Famous Buffett Breakfast on Sunday, Jan. 20. All proceeds will benefit All Saints Catholic School.

Doors open at 8 a.m. Serving is from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Cost is $8.99 per adult, $4.99 per child ages 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and younger.

The K of C Hall is located at 1880 W. Hamilton Rd. in Alpena.
