Ann Arbor resident wins Marquette Marathon

MARQUETTE — Saturday morning was filled with rain, but the poor weather didn’t stop the runners at the Marquette Marathon.
In the end, Alex Prasad of Ann Arbor crossed the finish line first with a time of 2:43.07. In addition to that, he also won the men’s ages 20-29 competition.
Prasad was followed by Robert Ellerbruch of Farmington, Utah (2:48.33) and Mike Waterman from downstate Marcellus (2:52.56). Jonathan List of Chicago (2:53.41) and David Ramos of St. Petersburg, Fla. (2:54.19) rounded out the top five of the 265-participant race. Escanaba’s John Bauman was the top Upper Peninsula finisher with a time of 3:09.26.
The top women’s finisher was Sarah Kasbian-Larson of downstate Alma. She finished ninth overall with a time of 2:57.19. Jennifer Every of Peoria, Ill. took second on the women’s side (2:58.10) followed by Janet Becker of downstate Rockford (3:03.41). The first U.P. female finisher was Jennifer Hodgins of Ishpeming, who finished with a time of 3:28.10.
In the very large 501-participant Half Marathon, Jeffrey Quednow of Ogema, Wis. took the top spot at 1:14.41. The next four spots were all from the U.P. Adam Bruce of Gladstone finished second (1:17.22) followed by Marquette runners Keith Wilson (1:18.48), Nathaniel Langlie (1:19.48) and Tracy Lokken (1:21.24).
Finally in the Blackrocks 5K, Brent Skaw of Marquette finished first out of 219 runners with a time of 0:18.01. He was followed by women’s winner Deedra Irwin of Pulaski, Wis. (0:19.05), Dan Molloy of Grand Rapids (0:19.42), Lucas Cavalieri of Iron Mountain (0:20.49) and Robert Kuntze of Stephenson (0:21.14).
