Rogers City girls, Hale boys win NSL Jamboree

OSCODA–The Hale boys and Rogers City girls cross country teams took top honors at the first North Star League Jamboree of the season on Tuesday in Oscoda.

Hale’s boys team finished with 50 points, ahead of Fairview (71), Whittemore-Prescott (73), Rogers City (79), Oscoda (80) and Alcona (113).

Rogers City’s girls team finished with 15 points, ahead of Alcona (55), Oscoda (69), Hale (72) and Fairview (75).

Whittemore’s Josh Green won the boys race, but Hale won the event after Logan Lewis finished second and Hale’s next four runners all finished in the top 20.

Matt Wilbert led Rogers City with a third place finish (17:50) and was followed by teammates Austin Bielas (14th, 21:19.5); Christian Hentkowski (17th, 22:00.4); Tony Walker (18th, 22:18.6) and Nik Tulgestka (27th, 29:21.5).

Grayson Rayes (8th, 19:45.8) was Oscoda’s top finisher and Fallon Hux (15th, 21:22.2) led Alcona.

Other Alcona finishers included Levohn Palmer (21st, 24:07.3) and Malcom Dix (22nd, 24:13.2).

Rogers City’s girls team took the top five finishing spots with Morgan Baller winning the race in 21:06.7. She was followed by teammates Linnea Hentkowski (22:54); Cheyenne Bober (23:17.5); Abby Ross (23:44.4) and Kyley LaFleche (24:14.9).

Rogers City’s other finishers included Isabella Reholho (9th, 26:08.8); Madison Tulgestka (11th, 29:00.9); Hannah Hentkowski (14th, 34:50.70) and Justice Caddie (15th, 42:12.2).

Sara Decker (6th, 25:39.8) led Alcona and was followed by teammates Courtney Winter (8th, 26:03.4) and Janae Kierzek (12th, 29:23.1).

Sophia Rayes finished seventh for Oscoda in 25:45.1. Aby DeGrammont finished 13th for Fairview in 30:14.1.
