Warriors win 2 to improve to 5-1

The Alpena Warriors girls hockey team got back to winning and improved to 5-1 on the season with dominant wins over Traverse City. Alpena blanked Traverse City in the opening game behind a 41-shot assault led by Emily Vivian’s two goals and two assists. Warriors goalie Emma Fraser earned her second shutout of the young season. The Warriors completed their sweep in the afternoon contest with a 9-1 triumph on their second 41-shot effort. Lexie Gries tallied the first goal of her 13-year hockey career and then capped it off with a second goal and assist.

Also chipping in two goals for the first game were Taylor Tolsdorf. Erin Bailey and Tatum Moran completed the goal scoring with one apiece. Tolsdorf also tallied two assists along with Lexie Gries. Rounding out the helpers of game two were Courtney Nunneley, Hunter Lundquist, Bailey, and Moran with an assist each.

In the second contest, Erin Bailey also netted two goals, Taylor Tolsdorf had a goal and four assists. Courtney Nunneley, Kelly Watson, Rheanna Chimner and Hunter Lundquist all found the net to round out the scoring. Emily Vivian, Lizzy Heath, Lundquist, Gaby Smith and Nunneley also tallied assists in game two. Emma Fraser faced saved 10 shots between the pipes.

The Warriors return to action next weekend when the visit Bad Axe for two games.
