Alpena icers earn BNC honors

After going 18-8-2 and reaching the regional final, the Alpena High hockey team had several players named to the all-Big North Conference teams for the 2016-17 season.

Alpena captain Nick Esch earned first-team honors after leading the Wildcats with 19 goals and 15 assists for 34 points. Assistant captain Wade Roznowski was also named a first-teamer, collecting two goals and 17 assists for 19 points while leading Alpena’s defensive corps.

Alpena goaltender Dakota Meyer, who had a solid postseason backstopping the Wildcats earned an all-conference honorable mention. He finished the season with a 14-6-1 record and a 1.83 goals against average. He posted one shutout and had a .915 save percentage.

Alpena forwards Evan LeTourneau, Owen Limback and Colby Plowman all earned honorable mentions as well. Plowman finished third on the team in goals with 14 and added 14 assists for 28 points. LeTourneau finished second in goals with 15 and added 10 assists for 25 points. Limback scored three goals and added 10 assists for 13 points.
