Titans beat Alpena soccer in district semis
TRAVERSE CITY-The Alpena girls soccer team gave Traverse City West all it could handle during a Division 1 district semifinal on Thursday, but eventually the Titans were simply too much to handle.
Alpena trailed 1-0 after 30 minutes, but West tallied three goals in the final ten minutes of the first half and went on to win 8-0.
“I’m proud of the effort our girls gave. We played hard and the first 30 minutes was a great effort on our part to hang with one of the best teams in the state,” Alpena coach Tim Storch said. “I’m disappointed for the seniors, but hopeful for the future and the girls we’ll have returning.”
Alpena finished the year with a 4-14-2 record.
