Jacobs bound over to circuit court

Jesse Mark Jacobs, 19, of Alpena was bound over to circuit court for making a terrorist threat following a preliminary exam Thursday.

The charges originate from allegations he made a threatening comment in the Alpena Mall parking lot that lead others to believe he intended to shoot Alpena High School students while they entered senior prom.

Judge rules in favor of city

The City of Alpena's original offer stands, according to Circuit Court Judge John Kowalski, and former city manager Michael Uskiewicz will not receive any payments beyond that proposal.

The case brought before Kowalski stemmed from a lawsuit filed by former City Manager Michael Uskiewicz over an alleged breach of contract.

Hillman, PIE&G differ on judge's decision

The Village of Hillman and the Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op have different interpretations of the recent decision issued by Administrative Law Judge Sharon L. Feldman, regarding a natural gas rate case currently before the Michigan Public Service Commission.

For more than a year, PIE&G and Hillman have been unable to reach a consensus on a proposed price structure agreement.

Tri-Township board fires EMT

The Tri-Township EMS Board voted unanimously to terminate EMT William Baker Wednesday evening.

Baker was terminated for the illegal possession and transmission of confidential patient records, for insubordination by refusing to follow a mandatory directive adopted by the board directors regarding intra-facility transfers.

On Wednesday morning not a student nor teacher could be found in the halls of Hinks Elementary School. In fact, one would be hard pressed to believe school was in session.

Except, all 270 students and faculty were present and attended for.
