Just because his last name is Hincka doesn't mean Nick is the best area player. His team won nine games. Jared Steiner led his team to Regionals.

well doesnt mean luke cordes from alpena needs to be in there cause there team in Alpena didnt do jack every year. I believe Mason VanPamel should be the best area basketball player he lead his team past Posen and Past Alcona in the Seasons & for the regionals.

Mason led his team to the regional finals and along with that sent them into both overtime a with shots of his own as time expired in the finals.. He averaged close if not over 20 points a game and also had quite a few assists. I feel he is the most deserving! Everyone on here is good but you have to look at stats and how far the team went. Mason should win

Mason Vanpamel did not lead his team past Alcona! Alcona beat Hillman both times this year, and just because they made it to regional finals doesnt mean he is good. Jared led Alcona to 3 district titles and has made the Bay City Dream Team every year! By far Jared Steiner is the best player out of all the canidates.

Mason is obviously the best!!

Jared Steiner hasn't led his team to anything. Hes been playing second fiddle on the team since he joined. Hes been second to kids like Alec Cole, Brock Lavergne, and this year even Trenton Lavergne. He is a good player but hes not the best. Mason VanPamel is only a sophomore and he led his team the farthest of any of these. He led them in points, assists, and was also right up there in rebounds. Mason is the most deserving!

Without Jared, Alcona wouldnt have won anything! Mason isnt even good, I play for Alcona and I shut him down! Jared is the Best of the Best! Jareds balling basketball at college, Vanpamel wont go anywhere for basketball!

I like how people on here try to rip players of there game. This award goes to the player of the "year". meaning this current 2012-2013 season, not what happened before.

Alcona has been very good and Jared is good. Im not taking anything away from him. Im just saying Mason is better. Maybe you should be on the ballot then if your so good Ritchie 24. You seem like your pretty good.
Also Aaron Ritchie, you didn't shut Mason down the two Alcona games this year. He had 22 to Steiners 17 in game one and in game two he had 27 to Steiners 9. So maybe step up your defense. And dont degrade a player. All the kids on the list are good thats why your not on it.

Alright Ritchie24...for 1 how many points did you or Steiner average this year? And how many did mason. Also you guys got blow out terribly in regional semis and mason led his team past that and just about upset the #2 team in the state. Too bad you couldnt have a sophomore season like that aye!?

I disagree with Ritchie24. He destroyed you on past games. Maybe you need to learn a thing or two from him about B-Bal

OMG!!!!! grade arent determining if he's good or not! and i dont need to learn anything from him about "B-Ball" because i dont want to learn from anyone from hillman, because obviously they couldnt beat us this year! so why would i want to learn anything from them?

Somebody better teach you something Ritchie24 ( Aaron Ritchie) because you are bad at basketball so you need some help, your bad at using English because OMG is not a word and this is an official site not a text message, and you have no manners. Your just embarrassing yourself there is no need to be degrading to any of the players.

im not degrading anyone on here! im just saying jared is a better player
You said VanPamel isnt even good and you shut him down. That is degrading. Hes obviously good if hes on the list and if your saying you could shut him down thats degrading because i watched you play. Pretty sad. They are all good on here thats it!
they are, but i dont believe that vanpamel should win it, i feel that jared should!
Class A basketball > Class D basketball. Luke Cordes is by far and away the best basketball player on this list. This should not even be close. The kid was the Big North Conference MVP. Last I checked, Hillman, Alcona, Posen, and Atlanta are not playing teams like the Traverse City's, Petoskey, or Cadlliac even once in a season let alone twice. How far you made it in the class D tournament is completely irrelevant when comparing to a class A college bound basketball player.

I get that Steiner and VanPamel had good seasons, but the competition they played was not even close to the same level that Cordes and Alpena played all year. Alcona lost to Tawas 52-41 earlier this year. Alpena beat that team by scores of 54-36 and 69-46. Cordes had 26 points the first game and 15 the second. It's absolutely absurd that he could win Big North Conference Player of the Year and lead his team to 19-5 record but not win this award. While Steiner and VanPamel may have better stats, it's worth noting that Cordes would have averaged close to 30 points if he played similar competition.

Is this even a question? Luke Cordes is by far the best player in the area and the BNC.. That is Class A basketball by the way. He averaged 20 a game on double teams and triple teams. he would average 40+ a game if he played class D. Also he has a Scholarship to a powerful Michigan tech basketball team.. None of these players would not even start for alpena..

BoJangles is right you can't say any of the other players are better than Luke Cordes because they don't play anyone as good as he does. Even if the other players had better stats than he does it wouldn't matter because he went against better players and still did amazing this season. Not to mention he is college bound for this sport.

Also people arguing who has better grades, Cordes also has a 4.0 and his team averaged a GPA of 3.75.
