Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

Any problems with the other quotes?

You might like this one:

"Gun control? It's the best thing you can do for crooks and gangsters. I want you to have nothing. If I'm a bad guy, I'm always gonna have a gun. Safety locks? You will pull the trigger with a lock on, and I'll pull the trigger. We'll see who wins.

It is comical, pathetic really, how a conspiracy theory can become so imbedded in a thought process. Agenda 21 is "a threat to our Constitution", says Mr. Little, while real threats come from within, as the threats I mentioned, warrantless searches, property seizures, incarceration without charges, imprisonment for victimless crimes, etc. ad nauseum, the sheeple just go along, like only certain freedoms are desirable, like the Second Amendment(a good one by the way). I value MY freedoms, at least the ones we are still allowed.

... Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks." (Thomas Jefferson to Peter Carr, 1785. The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, Memorial Edition, Lipscomb and Bergh, editors)

"One loves to possess arms, though they hope never to have occasion for them. (Thomas Jefferson to George Washington, 1796. The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, Memorial Edition, Lipscomb and Bergh, editors)

"We established however some, although not all its [self-government] important principles . The constitutions of most of our States assert, that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves, in all cases to which they think themselves competent, (as in electing their functionaries executive and legislative, and deciding by a jury of themselves, in all judiciary cases in which any fact is involved,) or they may act by representatives, freely and equally chosen; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed..."

It was in large part to the insistence of and by Thomas Jefferson that the Bill of Rights be included in the Constitution. The 2nd amendment is the 2nd of the 10.

The quote I have attributed to Thomas Jefferson was indeed quoted by him in one of his own writings: "Legal Commonplace Book." Jefferson originally read the quote in Italian and included it in his book.

There are many, many quotes from Jefferson regarding the importance he placed on the 2nd amendment.

"No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms. " (Thomas Jefferson: Draft Virginia Constitution, 1776)

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind.

The Muslims are coming, the Muslims are coming! Yes, let the Agenda 21 type conspiracy theorists(rSHRILL) begin wailing and gnashing of teeth. Al Jazeera is coming to America, with the deal recently made with Current TV, the Pan Arab news company will now be available to 60 to 100 million American homes. Unlike the Faux (Fox) 'news' some of us (shrill) are used to getting 'information' from, Stay tuned...for real news...

SHRILL. Jeferson did not speak or write the quote you attributed to him. It came from Cesare Beccaria's Essay on Crimes and Punishments. Jefferson, however, did make a comment on the quote. He called it a false idea. Look it up. More right wing lies attributed to our founding fathers.

norm..Without the 43 million for NASCAR the poor people in Indiana wouldn't be able to sit in their cars for hours on the way to watch cars turn left for hours.

BillO lost a third of his viewers and Hannity lost half his. As telescopes empirically show us the Genesis of solar systems. Gravity and science has won while the gods are joining the dinosaurs; life is good :)

It's certainly a "balanced approach" though isn't it? If you apply some 41:1 affirmative action points to democrats. In other words tilted 4,100% in their favor. $41 in tax increases to $1.00 in spending cuts, which aren't really cuts.

Democrats are in charge. Congrats. If it hadn't passed you'd be calling the Republicans obstructionists. Tax increases on 77% of Americans. Boehner might be Post Toasties for this vote. May not retain speakership. Does anyone see any spending cuts? Neither do I.

Don't forget continued tax credits for "green" energy. That's the energy that burns greenbacks and nothing else.

With all the drama they could muster, the Senate, and the House drama queens have provided huge corporate handouts we will most likely not hear about...Nascar racetrack builders get tax breaks amounting to 43Million over two years. Tax credits for Railroads, a private enterprise, 100 million (or so).Hollywood subsidies, to the tune of 150 Million. Again.(or so). Tax breaks for Mining Corporations to provide Safety equipment and training! Subsidies to Goldman Sachs for 1.6 Billion Tax Free for New headquarters.9 Billion for OFF SHORE financing (a loophole)for Banks! Tax Credits for Foreign Subsidiaries (1.5 Billion from 2010-2011). Nothing for Hurrican Sandy Relief, however. Leadership? No. Smaller Government? No. Bullshirt? YES.

Also you've dishonored yourself again with this stupid filthy lie:

"Conservatives are concerned only with the Second Amendment."

Lying pig.

When you pray, do you start like this: "Dear Father of Lies..."

Without the second amendment, the others are worthless. The second amendment was designed to protect us from out of control government. Genocide always follows the disarming of citizens. I'd say genocide is a thing we might want to avoid.

Also, the "real Agenda 21" is Agenda 21. The real threats to our Constitution are also real. The NY Times (fishwrap of record) calls the Constitution archaic.

Michigan Republicans passed a bill our Republican Governor also signed, exempting Michiganders from NDAA. You like that right? Did democrats do that or did Republicans? Republicans did that.

Surepoopfoot. How does cutting taxes on rich folks hurt middle class folk? Nevermind, it doesn't. Let's see how middle-class folk are "helped" by this new tax increase on "rich folks".

Did none of you guys get a brain for Christmas? Nope. Your kids got their work hours cut though, right?

Dumb-a-s-s-e-s.

Conservatives are concerned only with the Second Amendment. Yet, when it comes to other liberties, like freedom to pursue happiness, they are right in line with the federal 'war on drugs', and federal marriage legislation. The Bill of rights gets trampled on with warrantless spying on American citizens (the 'war' on terror), indefinite incarceration without charges, citizen wiretapping(again, without warrant),and rights written in plain text under the Fourth(search and seizure, and warrant requirements), Fifth (due process, property forfeit), Sixth(speedy public trial, impartial jury and prosecution requirement to inform persons of charges), Eighth Amendment (cruel and unusual punishment-torture) since 9/11. Yet, the Second Amendment is the only one that seems to matter to neocons when it comes to safeguards against tyranny, and the only one we hear about from GOPTV (Fox'news')

Rshill you are a pathetic fool, our corrupt government and corrupt news put on a show of distractions. All Fox news has to do is put a piece of a rotten meat on a string and tie it to the fence and you like a dumb dog will be so busy working to get it, that the real truths go by without you ever discovering them. It’s no better with the other networks either.

What has hurt this nation the most was the lies of Free Trade and cutting taxes on the rich, both have hammered the working class of this nation.

Where is this destruction of our nation from the Free Trade policies ever laid out by the new media as they do with the fiscal cliff?

"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms .... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." (Thomas Jefferson)

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." (George Washington)
