Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

Is any Cowboy and Indian story grounds for racing down the road to serfdom?

Is any story ever conceived grounds for it? Can you conceive of one? Give us a reason for heading down that road.

Ever seen Obama pretending to be solemn at the Vietnam Memorial, where 58K of our men died fighting Communism? That same guy has appointed Communists to government positions and has received the endorsement of the Communist Party USA both election cycles. Is your response to all of this, blah, blah blah, like it was to 110 million murdered by Communists?

Ugly facts elicit blah, blah from you? Are those the words of a rebuttal or the dumbed-down sounds of a butthead?

Millions of indigenous peoples of the North American continent suffered and died due to the covetous nature of immigrant Europeans. Genocide that rivaled the Holocaust, Starvation, intentional murdering of Native Americans,by intentional spreading of disease, and the search for gold and the plunder of resources. NO thoughtful opinion from YOU, only a nebulous adherence to fear of some Red Menace. Pathetic.

Man what a crackpot. Communism is not coming to a town near you anytime soon. Folk who think like rshrill are now attempting to re-start the Cold War, which, to his credit, Ronnie Reagan, with plenty of help from Karol Woytyla, helped end. What is it about you neocons that you like conflict so much? I and plenty of freedom loving Americans do not wish to become slaves to the Corporateocracy you hold so dear. I choose to enjoy every living moment, because, contrary to popular belief, heaven is on the Earth.

Where at Wounded Knee? GPS the exact spot and share it with me.

South Dakota, 1890. Wounded Knee, where up to 300 Lakota were massacred by the 7th Cavalry, 20 of whom received the Medal of 'Honor' for their crimes. History 101.Who T F are you, Senator Joseph Mc Carthy? Basically, you are little more than a simpleton.

Here is a little used word that describes succinctly the ideas you, rshrill, continually espouse.Buncombe.

Where at Wounded Knee? GPS the exact spot and share it with me. Then give me your heart, in a thimble, and what's left of your brain on a microscope slide. I'll make sure they both get the proper burial, right under some buffalo droppings.

Nice defense of Communism there though Normutton. Not exactly a manifesto, more like defending your insane little brother...from common sense and self-preservation.

Repeat the mantra of all the stupid, suicidal dead folks that never stood up to communism, or fought for their own individual freedoms...Baaa, baaaaa.

Do you by any chance have any wool? How about some polyester?

Pick all the nuggets of 'Communism', blah blah blah, and attempt cynically to equate torture as an issue of communists, when here in America, as we immigrated to these hallowed shores, and pushed the previous inhabitants to the brink of extinction, and coveted and conquered and exploited, and starved and massacred and commited atrocities. Rshrill, you seriously need to grow up. Your silly little characterizations are sophomoronic and your tired ideas are a waste of space, little 'man'. NO original thought has escaped the small space in your brain.

Garbage in (from shrill) Garbage out (of his mouth). Again, your phony proselytizing, and marginalizing the opinion of others only illustrates your ignorance of the world. Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee.

Quote from a man who actually lived through communism:

“The cruelty of atheism is hard to believe when man has no faith in the reward of good or the punishment of evil. there is no reason to be human. There is no restraint from the depths of evil which is in man. The communist torturers often said, “There is no God, no hereafter, no punishment for evil. We can do what we wish.” I have heard one torturer even say, “I thank God, in whom I don’t believe, that I have lived to this hour when I can express all the evil that is in my heart.” He expressed it in unbelievable brutality and torture inflicted on prisoners.” (Richard Wurmbrand, Tortured for Christ, prisoner in Romania for 13 years)

According to Hawaii State University's study on Democide by R.J. Rummel, communism is responsible for killing some "110,000,000, or near two-thirds of all those killed by all governments, quasi-governments, and guerrillas from 1900 to 1987".

You are a member of the ignorant masses Normentalmidget. So is 57 piles of bacon on the floor.

Amos, misinterpretation is a way of life for some media wags, who seek to incite under the guise of entertainment. Reading comprehension is at an all time low, as supposedly intelligent humans, even 'educated' or 'important' members of the media and politicians who are so hung up on ideology that journalism takes a back seat to incitement. Dylan mumbles, but Bill O'Turdly attempts to use his words to further his incitement of the ignorant masses who see him as THE authority on nearly every issue. Remember whrn Reagan tried to hijack 'Born in the USA', as a jingoistic anthem, when in actuality, it is an anti-war song.

norm..Dylan did have a tendency to mumble. I attended a Dylan concert at MeadowBrook (Oakland University) and everyone there (except for 2 people) must have misinterpeted the "must get stoned" line too. The police must have known what was going to happen because they left when the concert started.

...I like elegant, flowery words, such as estivate, peregrinate, elysium, halcyon. I like wormy, squirmy, mealy words, such as crawl, blubber, squeal, drip. I like sniggly, chuckling words, such as cowlick, gurgle, bubble and burp.

I like the word screenwriter better than copywriter, so I decided to quit my job in a New York advertising agency and try my luck in Hollywood, but before taking the plunge I went to Europe for a year of study, contemplation and horsing around.

I have just returned and I still like words.

May I have a few with you?"

...he wrote and sent the following letter to all the directors, producers, and studio executives he could think of. The approach worked, and after securing three interviews he took a job as a junior writer with MGM.

Pirosh went on to write for the Marx Brothers, and in 1949 won an Academy Award for his Battleground script."

"Dear Sir:

I like words. I like fat buttery words, such as ooze, turpitude, glutinous, toady. I like solemn, angular, creaky words, such as straitlaced, cantankerous, pecunious, valedictory. I like spurious, black-is-white words, such as mortician, liquidate, tonsorial, demi-monde. I like suave "V" words, such as Svengali, svelte, bravura, verve. I like crunchy, brittle, crackly words, such as splinter, grapple, jostle, crusty. I like sullen, crabbed, scowling words, such as skulk, glower, scabby, churl. I like Oh-Heavens, my-gracious, land's-sake words, such as tricksy, tucker, genteel, horrid.

Words are paramount in their importance. Their ability to convey precisely what the author of them would like to convey is untouchable. We've all heard that "a picture is worth a thousand words". Granted, one blessed with the gift of choosing and arranging words could surely write a thousand words about a picture, but isn't it also true that a word can be worth a thousand pictures? I think so. Our nation's Declaration of Independence is such a collection of words that invoke an unlimited variety of pictures. Many of our founding documents are like that. The Holy Bible is like that. Was our nation founded on Christian principles, tenets, and ideals? To doubt that it was conjurs up another word for me which looks like this: Illiterate.

Take a look below at how this particular writer used words. This is really cool IMO:

"When copywriter Robert Pirosh landed in Hollywood in 1934, eager to become a screenwriter,
