Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

...right wing propagandists and Big Oil apologists. (fear mongers). In reality, we are at or near PEAK OIL. The planet we all live on can only take so much exploitation.

IF you understand the supply and demand theory, then you should understand the nature of the XL Pipeline, and the Canadian company's desire, and the potential environmental harm with any spill. The Kalamazoo River will suffer the effects for years with the spill the river suffered, and please inform us as to why we should be part of the CANADIAN scheme to cut through America with that very dirty oil process. You are naive on the issue, and appear not to care about the Earth. The existing tar sands pipelines have leaked at least 30 times since the whole dirty process by a CANADIAN company. Type in U.S. oil production, and see that, in just the first response, 'a record surge', and fracking (another unsafe, environmentally potentially disastrous situation) 'threatens OPEC',and 'America, the Saudi Arabia of tomorrow', and 'Saudi America's oil output highest in 20 years'. And that is just the surface. So do not feed us the baloney that YOU believe. You have been duped by fear mongering fro

Do we want Hagel as Sec. of Def.? Heck no.

Strategy:

First, get an oversized Bagel for Hagel...and when he isn't looking, put it over his head, thereby immobilizing his arms. Rabbit punch him in the snout a few times, tie his ears in a knot, disrespect his eye bags, tell him to git, then kick him in the cottontail caboose, and toss him in the brier patch.

"Rshill, you ought look into what controls the price of oil/gas" (Normethane)

Okeedokie.

1. Supply and demand, like everything else.

2. Oil is pegged to the USD. As the USD is eroded, i.e., shrinks, the price goes up further. As the Fed continues printing money, each existing dollar is diluted and worth less.

Obama is curtailing the supply and he is eroding the dollar. Bad for poor folks, rich folks, black folks, white folks...all folks. He wants a total US collapse and is orchestrating that nicely.

The fraudsters that got him reelected, are stupid, criminal, commies.

Taxe Enuff Already makes a great slogan, and is apt. BUT, the Tea Party has hijacked it, so here we are. Tax vices(alcohol, gambling, Tobacco,AND yes, Marihuana) Tax 'stuff' people do not need (soda pop, candy, snacks), for instance.Make Corporations pay there FAIR share, and take away their Welfare.TAX those companies that manufacture weapons of war for sale to any country with the cash. There is a fair and balanced method to solve these issues, but 'our' elected persons are beholden to certain segments of society that have the money and access to the pols that 'we the people' do not, rather they are too busy asking these donors to contribute to their elections instead of governing according to conscience.(if they have any, of course).

Right again. Rubio should've sipped that glorious liquid elixir from a wooden shoe, in honor of Ronald "Dutch" Reagan.

Rshill, you ought look into what controls the price of oil/gas. The XL Pipeline is still a bad idea, and the implementation of it as U.S. policy will and does harm the Earth, which is where we ALL reside. I have read about this issue for literally fifties of hours, and your take on it is ill informed, even if your notion is heart felt. The speech, I clicked to when commercials allowed, as I was watching somethinng useful, but when I did tine in, I was watching the orange face of John Boehner. I learned more from that method than I did from the speech. Rubio's reaction was worse, despite the brouhaha over his sweating profusely and drinking water(from a plastic container).

Thursday Moanin'...Where was John McCain during the MyLai massacre, in VietNam, where U.S. soldiers massacred 109 civilians. He was dropping bombs from the air, on the same people. Now, he risks his war 'hero' reputation with his shenanigans on the Benghazi incident. It certainly made me revisit the massacre, which, incidentally was NOT an isolate dincident. I have several VietNam veteran friends who have told me that incidents like My Lai happened MANY times during that immoral WAR, and that a couple of them saw first hand the carnage in the name of America. The Benghazi incident in a chaotic terror situation could be analyzed for years, and no real solution or answer could come of it, just as the VietNam WAR is still being debated. Same for the what I feel to be an illegal, immoral WAR in Iraq, under demonstrably false pretense, bouyed by a year or so of pre-war propaganda by the Cheney/Rumsfeld/Bush gang of prevaricators. WAR IS HELL, by any definition or excuse.

Dear Norm:

You're right. $4.00 per gallon gas is not nearly enough. Please tax the*****out of it some more, further curtail leases in federal land grab areas, prohibit pipelines, and get that price up to $6.00 per gallon. I still have $3.00 left at the end of the month, and that'll never do. I should be borrowing at least 40 cents of every dollar I spend.

By the way, at next years speech, please have them play "Hey Big Spender" instead of "Hail To The Chief".

Sincerely,

Joe Sixpack

Rshill, do not get me started on bottled water. At least you show some concern for Mother Earth. Rehire yourself, at five dollars per hour.

Huron Hippie, you radical leftie, (humor), thanx for the enlightening take on business. I would rather hear thoughtful ideas on the issue of minimum wage than hear Fletcher whine about his lot in life. I took a minimum wage job after my professional lie, to supplement my income going into my now retired life, and worked for every dime, and actually enjoyed the work as a retail clerk. But I also see that the folks I worked with had to work another job to support their families, even with a full time, NO benefit job, and they are driving a jalopy. It seems the politicians are out of touch with working class family life, and get paid far more than they deserve, and get to feed at the public trough after 'serving' for a few years. Would it take much thought or investigation into how the states that have a higher minimum wage do it, since the wage varies by a couple dollars. It appears that politicians spend way too much time on pleasing their donors that 'the people'.

I'm a self-employed business owner. However, I also had a bottled water this morning on the way to the dentist. Was so disgusted with myself, I figured the only redeeming move that could be made after such heathenry was to have my tooth drilled without any lidocaine, and fire myself as soon as I got home. So, now I'm unemployed, and my tooth hurts.

Maybe my customers won't notice and I can resume in good conscience.

(Ok, I got the lidocaine...so please excuse my face for looking like it just had a stroke. I neither expect nor deserve forgiveness for the water-drinking episode.)

Dear Rs:

You make me sick.

Sincerely,

Rs :-)

NO person suggested lossening voter registratio, and Mr. Edwards, I saw the cringing faces on the GOP members who looked like cookie jar thieves during the Address. We Americans should not be afraid, as you appear to be, of ANY voter. Make the whole process simple for EVERY American to vote and make the process FAIR. Seems American to me. You carp about a misguided battery program, yet not one word on Corporate Welfare such as Big Oil enjoys. And we all know about huge profits for these 'job creators'.

Knock Knock, Hello? John Boehner! Anybody there? The GOP LOST the election. You do not get to control the narrative, and simply, to use your favorite expression, do not get to 'kick the can down the road' to the Senate and attempt to shift governance to them. The GOP LOST seats in the House, LOST seats in the Senate, and LOST the Presidential election, so guess who is out of touch with 'the American people' you cite so frequently. In reality, you could care less about the people, and more about your tenuous hold on POWER. Sure, add to any debate on the merits of any issue, but when a MAJORITY of Americans disagree with your ideas and methods, PAY ATTENTION!

SHRILL - Thanks but no thanks. It's people like you that keep me from switching parties.

The Senate Democrats (in Lansing) are pushing that HH. It will not pass.

Morality does not harm the economy or pile regulations on businesses, and nobody cares what you do in your bedroom.

It takes only a cursory look to see which party wants to regulate and legislate so many aspects of your behavior.

Morality also includes the work ethic, rugged individualism, entrepreneurship, and decent behavior. Morality is also against gangs, murders, rape, theft etc.

Anything wrong with that? Nope. C'mon over, I'll introduce you around.

And I am not whining. I chose this method of slow death (business) myself. I am just stating what reality is, or my version of it. The worst type of people are those who constantly whine about their lot in life. I don't want to be one of those. Anybody got a dime?

Posted 617 days ago.

HuronHippie

And let me just add something about the minimum wage. Before I became a businessman, I believed in the so called "living wage". I didn't understand a lot of things before I went into business. Currently if my labor costs are above 24% of my sales, I will lose money, which I already frequently do. Imagine what a bump of 20% in my labor costs would do, without a corresponding 20% bump in sales. Unlike what many people think, many small businesses like me are barely eking out a living. My employees at minimum wage make more than me most years.
