Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

Let the Second Amendment lawsuits begin.

Yes, before the court lurches further leftward.

Is the Government (State and Fed) jumping the gun, or is it the shark?

The citizens are watching. Politicians, do you really want to go there? If you go there, surely some would be inclined to leave you there. The grassroots can choke out the weeds, anytime they see fit.

The progressives like to strike while the iron is hot. The citizenry should realize they can make the iron hot by striking. What does that mean? Many varied things.

Government: You really need to back off and stand down. It isn't worth it. You ain't gettin' the guns. Deal with it and tack about. You will sail no further in this direction. You don't need to ask Ripley. You certainly don't need to ask any of our Founders, or those who revere them.

Just believe it. Don't demand proof.

Is anybody tired of WAR, already? On the Sunday talk, there appears to be anguish over where to send the troops when we leave Afghanistan! Perhaps Africa, or Iran, they say. WTF is wrong with these supposed leaders? All worried about cutting military spending, listening to arms vendors, while America is being bankrupted by endless conflict. Bring 'em home. Period. Solve the obvious too many problems HERE. The bloated military budget, fraught fraud, waste, and mismanagement, should be cut, to make our military lean and mean.

Charles Koch (of the multi-billionaire Koch Bros. fame) "I want my fair share- and that's ALL OF IT", on the KXL Pipeline, which would pump the ugly, filthy mess across America's largest aquifer, from CANADA to the Koch family refinery on America's Gulf Coast, saving THEM 3 Billion dollars per year. YOUR Koch Brothers.

Government is the problem. it needs to back off and stand down. Capitalism and Freedom is the solution.

If you cannot pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, i.e., earnest, energetic, organized, applied effort, then you are a pathetic hunk of meat, not a man.

Have you fallen for the Socialist or Communist notion that Government can make us all free? Have you seen how government can make us all slaves? Just look at the 20th century if you need a reference. And yes, Hitler was a Socialist.

What is it you think made the USA leap-frog over every other country in the world, with regards to wealth, strength, and standards of living?

It was two things: Our Constitution and Capitalism.

(Our individual, God-given freedoms are codified in that Constitution)

Generations of people flocked to the USA to realize their dreams. Some failed and some succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. In the USA everyone had an equal opportunity, not an equal outcome. They came here for a chance, and our Constitution gave them that chance.

Socialism and Communism does not work...anywhere. It kills and subjugates. if you desire someone controlling your every move, try prison.

Americans were sold on supporting a war under false pretense, with the help of certain media. I see the Bush regime as criminally responsible for the Iraq WAR, but we will NEVER get justice for all the dead persons as a result, any more than we will ever see justice for the victims of Columbus or Hitler, or Harry Anslinger. I do not have a fat IRA, or profitable investments, unless I count my comics, which are worth more than I need, and I refuse to fall for the capitalist notion that business can make us all free, if we just pull up our bootstraps, yada yada. The game is rigged by the elites of this country.

I have stated nothing to suggest the government is better at running business, I have repeatedly stated for the thick headed among us that Government of,by, and for the people does not exist. I protest phony proselytizers who blabber about smaller government, while enacting social engineering that appeases certain vehement segments of society, who donate to politicians, who are then beholden to those parties, and enact laws and regulations that sustain those entities INSTEAD of the American people, and at the expense of true Democracy, which is a joke, and a bad one. So Michael Eisner makes millions on the gullible masses who are 'entertained' by the imagination of Walt Disney, based on a cartoon mouse. I never fell for it, and will not. The other conservative in this forum, who will take issue with a teevee personality, in spite of good reporting, there is little hope for.

Normanlake you made it clear you don’t like Corporate Welfare. Funny, if you want to stand and protest Corporate Welfare I will stand along side you and*****the person who tries to hurt Normanlake, I will walk lock step with you! But if you believe the government is more adept at running business than business running itself, then you and I are light years apart in our beliefs on that point. Do not misunderstand me, people taking millions of dollars as compensation for a business that is loosing money is ludicrous! (There must be a stronger word) A number of years ago I read an article about Michael Eisner making $54 Million a year running Disney. That business is and was profitable, but really $54 Million a year? Can you live that much better on $54 Million than you can on say $11 Million a year? Surely you can live better, but really, $54 Million. That was probably 15 or so years ago.

Jaxspp, I was not even going to respond to your lame response. Your attempt to belittle me was so far off the mark you surely cannot even begin to comprehend. Yes I have a 401K and it is doing well. I also have a VERY fat Roth IRA, let me repeat VERY FAT, that does extremely well. The Roth did great during Bush! It has recovered very nicely from the 34% loss during the last 2 years of the Clinton presidency. As far as my 401K, I am semi- retired, having owned my own business and now have a part time job. The company I work for, a Fortune 500 company offers a 401K to all of its employees. I contribute 50% of my pay to the fund. Not much, about $400 every 2 weeks. Yes it is doing fine, thank you very much. I mentioned I am semi-retired, that means I am collecting Social Security also. I am going to punish you for as long as I can. Keep paying in jax, I get a kick out of the direct deposit every month. Golf money I call it.

You say liberal programs are good for the country. We conservatives drive on roads and wonder where they came from. I don’t wonder where they came from, nor the schools, nor the police and fire departments. I know very well where those come from. They come from the taxes you and I pay, and am willing to pay for those and other items you might bring up in consequent conversations. But I still believe that without Free Enterprise there would not be the tax money to pay for those benefits. The roads are paved, the buildings are built the COP cars are built and the Fire Trucks are outfitted, via Free Enterprise while creating tax dollars in the form of corporate income tax and personal income taxes.

Posted 616 days ago.

GeorgeEdwards

Here is a liberal program for you with numbers from 2011. Federal Welfare for year 2011 cost the Federal Gov’t: $746 Billion.

Free Enterprise created “Corporate Income Taxes” for year 2011 to the tune of, $304 Billion.

With a gajillion miles of pipeline already crisscrossing the USA we should be hearing about spills several times per day. Are they all kept secret?

I don't have a vested interest in the pipeline but Valerie Jarrett does. Obama's right-hand gal.

"No upside for America"??? Bull shirt!

By the way, truth does not live within a lightyear of Rachel Maddow. She is like the head cheerleader for the Obama Bums. She is more tilted towards all things Obama than Laura Bush is to all things George. There is nothing at all that could be described as balanced news at MSNBC. Zero time slots for that. All time slots allotted to pure partisanship. MSNBC is Obama's continuous campaign staff.

800,000 gallons of the corrosive tar sands oil in the Kalamazoo River! I was in Marshall shortly after, and let me tell you, it would not look pretty in YOUR backyard, let alone in mine. Two years later, the river is not recovered, like the EXXon Valdez spill, which still has environmentally challenging effect, decades later. I prefer the Earth clean, not polluted.

Posted 617 days ago.

normanlake

Yes, thats right, in case you failed to read my previous post before your knee jerked 30 spills! Paper mache~as in your weak excuse for Big Canadian Oil.

Posted 617 days ago.

normanlake

You are a total fool, shrill. Obama is leaning toward allowing the potentially environmentally dangerous to the Earth Tar Sand Oil pipeline. Read and understand, it is in your power. I do not know what vested interest you have in the pipeline, or what you fail to understand about the big money behind the selling of this bad idea. CANADIAN company cutting through our backyard, with NO upside for America. Canadian people are against placing the pipeline through CANADA, to THEIR coast, so do not feed us your tired apologies as a shill for Big Oil. I see through the ********e, and Americans are standing up against the process. Your tripe about blah blah Obama, blah blah causing the pipeline to not go through is pure fiction.

HUBRIS: Selling the Iraq WAR, Mon day night. Anybody that cares about truth, best watch the Rachel Maddow presentation on the selling of the Iraq WAR to gullible Americans. And today, we get Benghazi Blah Blah.

Posted 617 days ago.

rshill7

Why has every agency and state approved it then? Obama is the only problem...and his idiotic sycophants who seem to delight, much like he, in making our lives worse.

Perhaps the folks, states and agencies who have approved the pipeline realize that it is made of stern stuff, not cookie dough or paper mache'.

THIS direction...U.S. 23 South of Alpenia, take a left at Dinosaur Gardens...once you make it that far, call me with your tin can string thingy. I will meet you at the T-Rex, the one from Noah's Ark. (typo, PARticular)

Hey Tonto, oil, in perticular high abrasion tar sands oil, does NOT stay in the pipeline, and guess what, that is a spill in Kalamazoo.
