Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

norm...No, I think I figured out who you are and gave you a clue. Mysteries are so fun.

One of the biggest problems, in my opinion, is that neither chamber will bring to the floor any legislation that will be politically harmful to vote for or against based upon the whims of the respective radical bases. The far right and the far left have a stranglehold on the legislative trees and the "silent majority" suffers for it.

I agree with you hville, but the obstruction goes both ways. Neither party will offer anything even close to a compromise position in any piece of legislation. It's truly becoming a joke.

Sen. Murray and Rep. Ryan' s budget deal is the only meaningful piece of bipartisan work to come out of both chambers in years.

Both parties "poison the well" and then cry foul when they don't get their way 100%. It's a dang shame.

We need an infrastructure bank, we need regulatory reform, we need a new tax code and we need some movement on immigration, all things that both parties [majorities] agree on. If the left and right bases could be ignored for one legislative period by those in power and if they would do the silent MAJORITY'S work then I think things would start getting better. Pipe dreams? Yep. Why delude myself? HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL.

Freeman - I should have been clearer - my bad. I wasn't referring to "The President's bill" in particular, but more to the the comment you just made and have made many times (along with others)"The "pubbies" have been passing legislation for almost 3 years that don't even get a vote in the Senate." Now read my comment again...

Pay attention hville, it was the PRESIDENT'S bill. The purpose of bringing it to the floor for a vote is to get everyone on the record and, if passed, reconcile any differences with the other chamber.

The "pubbies" have been passing legislation for almost 3 years that don't even get a vote in the Senate. In short, democrats need to put up or just shut up. Stop blaming the opposition and vote for whatever it is they believe in regardless of the political consequences.

Good grief, does anyone pay attention anymore?

CSPAN 3 hours a night for everyone.

Why on earth would Harry Reid bring bills to the Senate floor that have absolutely no chance of passage? To waste even more time? To give the Pubbies ammunition for their campaign ads? Almost all the bills the house sends over are loaded with "poison pills" that they KNOW Dems would never vote for in a million years, but the Pubbies want to be able to say "Your guy voted against" some part of the bill...

Huh? What did I miss? You mean the same pothole we have been driving over since'66, or the falling down bridge that must reduce the tonnage allowed to drive over it every year or it will fall into the river?

normanlake..I hope your driving has improved since 1966.

I always obey the rules. I always follow the law, hence, you don't "know me backwards and forwards". That, my inane young friend, proves you are talking out of your ***.

Ever, ever get tired of being WRONG???

I'll also say it for the LAST time, I AM AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN FOR INFRASTRUCTURE SPENDING!!!

"...had nothing in it, (with the exception of some infrastructure projects)..."

You do know what the phrase "with the exception of" means don't you.

The compromise bill was voted on and passed by a HUGE margin, (320 to 93), in the house and debated and passed in the senate, signed by the president.

As far as the House, how many bills ever get through "as a complete package"?

Grow up, the congress has NEVER worked that way. EVER.

If the House sent up a bill to the Senate that contained portions that their majority was not inclined to support do you, for a minute, think that Harry Reid would even bring it to the floor? NO! As evidenced since the republicans took control of the House. TIME AND TIME AND TIME AGAIN. So get off your soap box and put on you big boy pants.

OK jax, you keep dreaming. Bush's administration has been over for almost 6 years. It's time you stop blaming him and the republicans for abject failures in leadership and execution by the democrats and this administration. It's starting to get a bit annoying. Stop "whining".

As far as my business acumen, with you and RS mocking it, when RS was on hold due to regulations I said it was probably toxic. Sure enough, turns out he ships auto refrigerants. I know you guys backwards and forwards. Laws and rules don't apply to you.

Posted 156 days ago.

As far as Bush being at full economy, his second tax cut was claimed to be a stimulus. Why would we need a stimulus if we were at full economy? I'll leave that for your homework instead of providing economic numbers for you to ignore.

Posted 156 days ago.

Being specific with you doesn't matter, as I've said many times for 2014, you'll be back with the same whines later.
