At least you got "smart meters" connected to everyone's house first, you know, so the water flowing through those 1905 pipes isn't so darn dumb.

Can't say the same for Alpena's decision makers though can we? Are there some smart meters shaped like hats that can be fitted to those folks?

The "old" meters were no doubt better than the 108 yr. old pipes. Right?

Will one of those smart meters cap a major catastrophic failure? Will one of those smart meters rejuvenate any of those 108 yr. old pipes? No?

Who cares? The meters are smart. They're computerized. Don't worry about raw sewage or your drinking/bathing water. Be proud of your meter, even though when they were voted on, "the people" were promised no major rate increases. That's what ya' call a big fat lie regarding the "smart" meters, directed at overly-gullible voters.
