Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

"Paul Cox and his wife Michelle, for example, appeared on the show claiming that their construction business has been hit hard because of Obamacare, giving them no choice but to significantly cut employee hours. Stern noted that Obamacare has no effect on any business with less than 50 employees.

"In our brief conversation on the phone, Paul revealed that he has only four employees. Why the cutback on his workforce? “Well,” he said, “I haven’t been forced to do so, it’s just that I’ve chosen to do so. I have to deal with increased costs.” What costs? And how, I asked him, is any of it due to Obamacare? There was a long pause, after which he said he’d call me back. He never did."

"Sean Hannity has been fact-checked, and the results aren't pretty.

In an article posted on Salon on Friday, Eric Stern "re-reported" a recent episode of Fox News' "Hannity" during which host Sean Hannity invited six guests to tell their Obamacare "horror stories."

According to Stern, there was a lot more to each of the guests' stories than Hannity let on. Stern decided to conduct his own investigation by separately interviewing each guest, and what he said he found was not that the guests were cheated by Obamacare, but rather that they had tried very little, if at all, to participate in the ACA.

Stern accused the Fox News host of using "fake evidence" to "exploit people’s ignorance and falsely point to imaginary boogeymen," deeming it all a part of the "Fox News lie machine."

"The Old Testament is very much a book of History." I'm glad you weren't one of my history teachers in High School.

There was no way Jesus was born in Bethlehem in a manger with animals. The gospel writers made that up many years after his death to coincide with the Jewish prophecy that the Messiah would hail from the town of David (Bethlehem). There is no historical evidence that King Herod sent soldiers to Bethlehem to kill all the young males who could be Messiah. This was also made up by gospel writers. Jesus was born in Nazareth and his father was Joseph(probably), not God. He was a good courageous man, a devout J E W, one of many "Messiahs" and supposed miracle workers roaming the Galilee at the time.

He was the ultimate servant/slave to all of mankind. He washed the feet of his own disciples. He was beaten beyond recognition. He gave his very life, through intense suffering, once and for all, as that one sacrifice which could suffice and reconcile us to the Father.

He was simultaneously the lowest of the low and the highest of the high.

He conquered death itself, illustrating for us what we might also achieve, and that is, eternal life, blameless and righteous before a Holy God. He paid our price. It is therefore not our righteousness, but His. It is a gift one can accept or deny, through our own freewill.

The Old Testament is very much a book of History. It is the unfolding of World History, and more explicitly, the history of the Jewish people. Before Christ, who was also predicted repeatedly in the Old Testament, there was the law, and there was animal sacrifice for the remission of sins. It shows all of the mistakes of the Jewish people, as well as why the Law was impossible to follow, jot for tittle. It showed that no man or woman could be perfect enough by obeying the Law. It just can't be done.

It also showed how the Jewish people were punished over and over, enslaved themselves, slaughtered etc. It gave examples of good Kings and evil Kings, and the ensuing results of each. Yes, I believe every word of it, yet it shows their many errors. It shows, in many ways, both good examples and bad examples.

Jesus Christ came as the ultimate sacrifice. He was born in the lowliest of low circumstances...in a stable, with animals, in a manger.

Stop teaching the*****thing if you don't believe in it, or forever be hypocrites.

Typical Christian cop-out. That's just the Old Testament...it doesn't count. NYANYANYANYANYANYA. Oh, except for the Ten Commandments part. That section was TRULY written by God.

HuronHippie

If you Cruzaders don't believe in the Ten Commandments, why do you keep throwing holy fits every time someone removes a plaque from public grounds?

What's all that white stuff on the ground? Reminds me of my disco days.

"I am not a Jew, I am a Christian. How many times must I say this to you paper mache' dollheads? Do you not know the difference between the Old and New Testaments? It appears not." Ok, so you're telling me that Christians don't learn the old testament in church and bible study? Are you telling me you don't believe in Adam and Eve and Noah's Ark? You can't just use the verses you like and ignore the rest. I knew this was going to be your answer. You are so predictable.

Speaking of Cruzaders, that Earl Elowsky better stop reading Pitts' editorial columns in the Alpena News before he has a stroke. Hillman ... the bastion of liberty.
