Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

Typical Christian cop-out. That's just the Old Testament...it doesn't count. NYANYANYANYANYANYA. Oh, except for the Ten Commandments part. That section was TRULY written by God.

If you Cruzaders don't believe in the Ten Commandments, why do you keep throwing holy fits every time someone removes a plaque from public grounds?

What's all that white stuff on the ground? Reminds me of my disco days.

"I am not a Jew, I am a Christian. How many times must I say this to you paper mache' dollheads? Do you not know the difference between the Old and New Testaments? It appears not." Ok, so you're telling me that Christians don't learn the old testament in church and bible study? Are you telling me you don't believe in Adam and Eve and Noah's Ark? You can't just use the verses you like and ignore the rest. I knew this was going to be your answer. You are so predictable.

Speaking of Cruzaders, that Earl Elowsky better stop reading Pitts' editorial columns in the Alpena News before he has a stroke. Hillman ... the bastion of liberty.

In other words, HH. Dumb try. Your side now wants to enslave us all under absolute Government authority. Here's my answer to them and you: No!

I am not a Jew, I am a Christian. How many times must I say this to you paper mache' dollheads? Do you not know the difference between the Old and New Testaments? It appears not.

The two New Testament verses you mentioned neither condone nor promote slavery. The first NT verse (Ephesians) you cite is simply wise advice from the Apostle Paul to one who happened to be a slave, and in those days, over 80% of the entire population of Rome were slaves, so the chance he might be speaking to a slave was approximately, huge. The 2nd one, in Luke, has nothing whatsoever to do with slavery.

Furthermore, no group of people were ever enslaved themselves as long, or often, as the Hebrew people. Hundreds of years in Egypt and hundreds more years in Bablyon, for starters.

Finally, The "Abolitionist" Movement, starting in England with William Wilberforce and taking hold in America was entirely a Christian thing. Started, maintained, strengthened, and brought into fruition by Christians.

The Cruzaders gave Ted a standing ovation for trying to bring down this country and the global economy. But they angrily threw barricades from national monuments that they had shut down at the White House gates. Hard to tell what they would in any given situation. They don't seem to be the sharpest tools in the shed.

Ah, the good old days. When we could beat our slaves to within an inch of their lives and not be punished. And SHRILL thinks the fifties were great...

Wow HH...The bibles are even worse than I thought. The blacks and browns should switch to a milk chocolate female god.. mmmm.

The Cruzaders should move farther south to Guyana and call themselves "The Peoples Templar". Cruz-aid anyone?

HuronHippie

Yup. Whenever I'm wondering if what I'm doing is a moral thing, what better place than the bible (new and old testaments) to solve my quandary?

The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)

If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever. (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT)

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

So, you can make fun of a white President or a black conservative, but you cannot make fun of a black President? More insidious mindless racism.

How blind can you be? It's called equality you scum sucking rodent. His policies*****and are destroying this country's freedom and prosperity.

We don't give a flying f*ck what color he is. If you do, let that be your problem. You're a party of fools, the whole lot of you.
