Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

The plain truth is that the democratic majority completely dropped the ball in 2009 and 2010. They focused on a Keynesian Utopia rather than 21st century economic fundamentals, pushed massive spending and a new social program in a time when the economy was in fundamental flux courtesy globalization.

Your assertion that I spin "good" economic news down is not untrue. It, in fact, is very true. My opinion is based in the glaring absence of ORGANIC economic growth indicators. They just are not there. Up one quarter and down the next is called "volatility". Said volatility is indexed and is a measureable variable. The facts remain the facts.

Hey norm, I accept good news when it is actually good news. Don't be a hater because I pull back the gloss and evaluate the "good" news based upon standards that are not governed by the "new normal".

jax, really? 2010?? c'mon man. Seriously.

Time to start looking at actual numbers. GDP is pitiful for a recovery. It's growing at a pace that would be marginally acceptable during peak output. Unemployment is nearing 12% in real numbers. Post something that points to your assertion that the "stimulus worked". 2010??? Data is a bit old.

I watched a program last night , Real Time with Bill Maher, and a panelist was Darrell Issa, the multi millionaire from California. Who was that guy, who I usually disagree with and presents himself to his base as this crusader for Benghazi justice? He was thoughtful, humorous, and reasonable. Perhaps because he was on a decidedly liberal program, and did not have to perform for his base, which he usually does wholeheartedly, and vociferously, even to the point of mania. Politics is a funny game, and Issa showed me something last night, that government could function as intended by the true statesmen that wrote the Constitution, if only our elected representatives followed their conscience, as well as a majority of their constituency, rather than simply adhering to party line, right or wrong. There is hope, if Issa can, we all can.

My point, 'free'man, is you never accept any good news we read about the economy, that has been presented. That should be obvious. And, you always spin it to downgrade any positivity. You must read the same news I do or you would not take great pains to downplay any good news. Across the board. I posted on the filibuster facts because I can. You have not expressed any thoughts on what I posted, I have no axe to grind, and the post was NOT partisan in nature, although you appear to have taken it that way. My post illustrates OBSTRUCTION, and show us how that way of going about the business of Congress is attributed only to Harry. You cannot see the nose on your face in a mirror.

freem..The chrislicans painted themselves by worshiping a god that murdered babies. It's their claim, not mine. Plus the chrislicans like to kill prisoners. You can't imagine how many christians have threatened me with fire lake.

freem..The democrats and republicans together thrust Romney care on us and I am sorry you can't afford it. I can afford to give you a loan so you don't whine so much.

I violated my own 2014 rule. I said I wasn't going to waste my time showing facts and figures to closed minds who will just ignore them, yet here I am showing them to Free? What is the point? There are hundreds of articles showing why the stimulus worked. I could show him every one, 2 months from now he'll post " Show me where the stimulus worked."

Don't read this Free. CBO, Aug. 24: CBO estimates that ARRA’s policies had the following effects in the second quarter of calendar year 2010:

?They raised real (inflation-adjusted) gross domestic product (GDP) by between 1.7 percent and 4.5 percent,

?Lowered the unemployment rate by between 0.7 percentage points and 1.8 percentage points,(and)

?Increased the number of people employed by between 1.4 million and 3.3 million.

I posted a stimulus article, you are too lazy to read it. Free is a typical Republican. Spouts facts and figures, offers no solutions. He brags about his business acumen, but whines and whines even though he is doing better under Obama than he did under Bush. Oh, boo hoo, my health insurance is going up. Whatever will I do? I'm a brilliant businessman but that is too much, I'll have to lay off an employee or something.

Don't bother posting your solutions, we already know what it is - trickle-down.

Playing the race card is getting about as tired as the "war on women". Man, this is really getting good.

I'll say it again, you are being played for a schmuck by the democrats with decades old rhetoric. The American people are starting to see through this.

You "defenders of the faith [administration]" are starting to look more and more ridiculous every day. Keep it up though, I need a good laugh.

I agree, vote on the presidents nominees. What's your point? None of those appointments have hindered any of the President's "policies" from being passed.

Come to think of it, the single largest "obstructionist" in the federal government has been Harry Reid and that's a FACT.

Please point to any good economic news normanlake. Let's discuss it.

NOW I read that Presidential nominees throughout American History have been filibustered 168 times. That is a FACT. It is also factual that of those 168 times 82 were blocked under President Obama. Can any of you geniuses illustrate to me a reasonable explanation for this lopsided display of obstruction? This is a non~partisan issue, so no pathetic partisan rhetoric. I suggest part of it is racial, so I will now play that card, although I have not researched the obstruction totally, it appears somewhat obvious. Please advise, reasonably.

What is it with the great pessimist, 'Free'man? Any time some positive employment figure, or relatively good economic news comes up, and is posted in the news, he ALWAYS has this negative spin to counter any positivity we can get in this suppressed economic reality. The poor economy was a long time coming, since St. Ronnie promoted the trickle down disastrous policy that has dominated 'our' economy for the last 35 years. Corporate profits have steadily risen, while income of the working class has declined.

Well it not like the foundations, such as the Freedom Works really care if they pick a winners for the 2014 or the 2016 election, as long as they keep reaping millions off of the pitch fork dorks and the three corner hat fools. How much did they pay that hack Glen Beck? What as happen to the Tea Party? They have seemed to have disappeared and they were entertaining, funny hats and pitch forks with tea bags hanging on them.

Huckabee, Cruz, Nugent, Trump, Palin, Bachmann... Oh, what a fantastic debate that would be.

Thanks for the in depth analysis of the healthcare debacle that the democrats thrust upon the country, amos57usa.

I'm glad we have you to make everything so clear. I mean, really, Pulitzer Prize winning stuff flowing out of amos57usa's finger tip.

So a person goes off the handle and threatens a reporter and amos57usa immediately paints a whole group of people based upon that action.

Way to paint with a broad brush amos57usa.

Are ALL democrats liars because President Obama and Hilary Clinton are?

Posted 324 days ago.

amos57usa

Did you see that republican threaten to kill the reporter. Threats have become the modus operendi of the Chrislicans so do as they say or you get a traffic jam in fire lake where they will scream "scandal" at you for hours.
