Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

I hate to take this chance to teach Fact Free again, but let's talk about a non-source statement he made, the stimulus didn't work:www(dot).nytimes****/2014/02/23/opinion/sunday/what-the-stimulus-accomplished(dot)html?_r=0

Washington D.C. needs to have a Senate and House of Representatives that will return to "Regular Order" in the legislative process.

Our retiring Senator Carl Levin has spoken numerous times on the subject. I would recommend you read some of those comments and speeches. The Senate will miss him, he's a person who truly understands the role of the Senate and the fundamental idea that each state, regardless of it's standing in the majority or minority, has the right and power to be heard and to hold processes until they have been heard. The Senate has become a toxic place largely due to leadership on both sides coming to the floor and expressing themselves with the restraint of a 2 year old. McConnell and Reid have turned the United States Senate into a side show. I pray the GOP returns it to regular order, that minority amendments and bills be heard and voted on. If that does not happen then, my friends, we are in very big trouble.

The gas tax, unlike the federal income tax, does not go into a "black hole" in Washington D.C. It directly affects the quality of the roads in Michigan. There is a very big difference in the mind of a conservative amos57usa. I know you don't see it.

Conservatives do not oppose taxes, just over taxation for the express purpose of the expansion of big government.

I'm also with Ted Cruz on the executive order issue. I believe that the President has overstepped his authority absent a concurrent bicameral supporting piece of legislation.

What really aggravates me is we have another $1.2 trillion, multi thousand page "we have to pass it to see what's in it" piece of legislation. Business as usual in D.C. At least Congress worked together on it. I guess that's a start.

What they should have done was address "too big to fail". The derivatives issues is a match that lights that fire. Derivatives are fine until they pose a systemic threat to the economic stability of a whole country. when a large bank, or banks, risk solvency in their derivative trades then you have a real problem.

Sen. Warren advocates two solutions. 1. Break up the big institutions so they cannot pose that risk to begin with. 2. Heavily regulate derivative trading into oblivion.

Both have an economic "growth" cost. That cost is far outweighed by the type of cost we saw in 2008.

I'm with her on those subjects.

Might surprise you amos but I agree 110% with Liz Warren.

freem...Did you see Liz Warren trying to save you from republican bank bail outs? She must scare the asterisk out of repukes. freem...Everyone sees the republican senate and republican Snyder want to more than double the gas tax. Why aren't you and Speer screaming "tax and spend conservatives". freen,,,If your Romney care fails then maybe you will get the public option.

Oh, a side note, had the Senate passed a budget then there never would have been a problem to begin with. Again, don't blame the GOP for the democrats not doing their job.

With regard to the immigration provisions in the cromnibus. I'll state it again. The president made a promise and when he had the house and the senate he did NOTHING.

The only holdup with the TEA party is border security. Why won't the president move on that to get a bill? What he and the senate offer is pitiful. Don't blame the GOP for the dems not wanting to do their job.

Here's my point jaxspp, whether you like the ACA or not.

The administration knowingly misled the American people in order to get the thing passed. A major piece of social legislation was crafted based upon bogus assumptions and "tortured" language on a COMPLETELY partisan line.

The $700+ billion stimulus had very little effect on the economy. There were no shovel ready jobs.

Banking regulations completely ignored "too big to fail" and focused on derivatives.

Job growth has been steady but even that has an *. The workforce has collapsed to a 30+ year low. Wages and household incomes have fallen.

U.S. corporations are sitting on trillions in cash just waiting to see what happens.

In short, at the outset, the administration focused on healthcare instead of the middle class and the economy and it backfired. They had the House, Senate and the Oval office and they moved on the crown jewel of the progressive agenda. Wrong policy at the time.

We were sold a bill of goods based upon fictional analysis and deception.

So let's discuss the major hurdle to the ACA. President Obama. He has delayed and deferred major portions of the law. He carved out union plans from paying the Cadillac tax. He delayed the employer mandate for purely political reasons. That has just started to take effect and, let me tell you, it's a mess. You, my friend haven't even seen the beginning of the cost to the economy from that one. Once we get passed that sword of Damocles the uncertainty should subside and things SHOULD get better.

Be thankful that there are some bright spots in the economy DESPITE this administrations policies.

Let's see, my sources.

Jonathan Gruber. President Obama. Sec. Sibelius, every knuckle head in congress that stood in front of the American people and claimed "if you like your plan, you can keep your plan, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor".

Every genius that stood in front of the American people and claimed that this law would insure the 30+ million uninsured. That number is now 41 million.

Every putz that claimed an average household savings of $2500.00.

Every person who made the claim that the ACA would reduce the deficit by $100 billion over 10 years when, in fact, CBO has revised that to a $100 billion increase.

I believe everything the Russian government says.... Unlikely.

Of course they say they are hurting, what would you expect them to say? "Is that all you got.."?

41 million people are not going on the medicaid rolls jaxspp. "Do your homework". Your charts cited show exactly that the premiss of the passing of the ACA were wrong, in fact deception.

Because you are too lazy to look them up, Fact-Free, I'll do your homework: www(dot)washingtonpost(dot)com/world/europe/western-sanctions-for-ukraine-conflict-hurt-russian-economy-open-up-rifts/2014/10/10/4f9db2aa-4e45-11e4-8c24-487e92bc997b_story(dot)html

Fact-free, you come here with ill informed opinions with no sources to back them. Republicans knew there would be 41 million uninsured under the ACA because they blocked them by not expanding Medicaid, which, to give Snyder credit who said it was a no brainer. But once again, Fact Free read a bumper sticker, spouted it off here, never bothered to look it up.
