PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — A 78-year-old Waterford Township woman has testified that her son tried to kill her with carbon monoxide from truck fumes in their garage.
The Detroit News reports (http://bit.ly/YXUUrV ) 46-year-old Adam Lutz is charged with assault with intent to murder, attempted murder, torture and unlawful imprisonment for the August 2013 incident. Gloriann Lutz testified Wednesday that she thought he took drugs before saying he was going to kill her.
She says her son handcuffed her inside the garage for 3 1/2 hours. She says the truck kept shutting off automatically after running for 25 minutes. He eventually gave her keys to free herself.
Adam Lutz could face up to life in prison if convicted. He passed a forensic psychiatric examination indicating he's able to assist in his own defense.
