GARFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Sheriff's deputies in central Michigan are investigating a possible hit-and-run injury accident in which both the driver and possible victim disappeared.

The Clare County sheriff's department says it got a call about 11 p.m. Saturday about a crash. The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant ( ) says a resident reported hearing a loud noise, followed by a woman yelling.

The site is a road in Garfield Township, about 25 miles northwest of Mount Pleasant.

Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski (mij-un-OW'-skee) says officers found evidence at the scene that a pedestrian or bicyclist may have been hit and possibly hurt.

Deputies have checked all area hospitals and ready care facilities looking for a victim.
