Howard Allen Young, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at Prairie View Care Center, Woonsocket, SD.
Howard was born Dec. 19, 1930 in Quinnesec, Mich., as the youngest of 10 children to the late William J. Young and Grace (Gumm) Young and married Marilyn Wineman in Bay City, Mich., on Feb. 25, 1950. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2001 in Bradenton, Fla.
Howard was a sales representative for AAA in Alpena, Mich., and Bay City, Mich., for many years until his retirement in 1985. He then relocated to Palmetto, Fla., with his wife Marilyn where they developed an avid interest in square dancing and enjoyed traveling.
Howard was a charter member of the Alpena Optimist Club and was a Mason with the Alpena Hopper Lodge 199.
Surviving are a son Ronald (Gail) Young of Alpena, Mich.; a daughter Linda (Dan) Domke of Huron, SD; a brother Bob (Florence) Young of Bradenton Fla.; a grandson Aaron Young of Alpena; and granddaughters Kristin (Steve) Turner of Orlando, Fla., Shelly (David) Thomas of St. Paul, Minn., and Leah (Roger) Fringer of Leavenworth, Kansas, and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Prairie View Care Center. Per his wishes his body will be donated to benefit Medical Science, Research and Education.
